my son has been channel hopping on sky this morning and found we have

613 disney channel & 614 playhouse disney.

not sure how long we have had them or for how long they will be screen for free.

i do not subcribe to the channels.

happy viewing :D

INSERT BY BOARD GUIDE DIVADEE it seems that disney have changed their channel line up and you can now get the disney channel and playhouse disney free on ntl and sky. They are releasing a premium disney channel (which will show all the movies) which you will have to subscribe to. These channels will be free from now on. :)

If you subscribe to Skys basic package, then these two channels will be available to you:-

"New premium family movie channel Disney Cinemagic will launch on Sky Digital on March 16th, the broadcaster has confirmed. Disney Cinemagic will be home to big Disney animated movie premieres such as The Incredibles, and will be available as a standalone premium channel or as a bonus to subscribers of Sky Movies 1 and 2. While the Disney Channel and Playhouse Disney continue to be subscription services, they become part of Sky's basic channel package".

I pay £5 per month extra for the Disney channels on top of my basic package, does that mean they will reduce my DD then...?!

Hi, I don't know whether this is in the correct place, so please could you move it if it isn't.

Anyway just incase there are some people who don't know that you can now get the Disney Channel and Playhouse Disney free when you subscribe to the other childrens channels. So if you are paying extra for the disney channels then you don't need to now.

Hope that helps

The other two disney channels have now discontinued broadcast. 64&65 on ntl anyway, now replaced by 'free' 63 & 66.

I said it was just the Disney Channel and Playhouse Disney. The other two are Disney movie channels.

Hi. Hope this is in the right section.

I'm on Sky TV (cheapest package) and at the moment have The Disney Channel (613) and Playhouse Disney (614) displaying for free at the moment.

I appreciate that this will only be for a few days; but I thought I'd bring it to your attention. Watch it while you can......

Good day.

Well what Sky tell me contradicts all this. I emailed them saying I am paying £5 per month extra for the Disney channels and that I presume my DD will be reduced to take account of most of the channels now being free and their response was:
---------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you for your email concerning the Disney Channels on Sky.

The Disney Channel is available as the following options:

· A stand-alone channel at a cost of 5.00 (GBP) per month with any package option.
· Included when you subscribe to both Movies Mix 1 and Movies Mix 2 starting at 34.00 (GBP) per month.

I trust that this information is useful to you. Should you require any further assistance, please contact me at the above email address.
---------------------------------------------------------------

It's interesting they class it as "The Disney Channel" when I specifically asked about the suite of Disney channels.

I have emailed back for more clarification and will post back when I hear. I don't think it's at all clear and you'd think that they would contact existing Disney subscribers to tell them of the change or at least have information on their website.

Just to clarify. Yes, the Disney Channel and PlayHouse Disney Channel have moved from being included "free" when you had the movie channels, and have been replace in that respect by the Disney Cinemagic channel instead - ie. now that one's "free" when you subscribe to movies. If you don't want sky movies, then you have to pay (about £5) for the Disney CineMagic channel(s) instead.

The original pair of Disney Channels (Disney and PlayHouse) are now included in the basic sky packages instead - but YOU DO HAVE TO PAY FOR THESE!

If you have no subscription to Sky, or are on FreeSat, then there are no Disney Channels at all available to watch - I've checked.

Hope that clears it up - so, there's nothing FREE here.

So my request to Sky is reasonable. Stop charging me £5 a month extra and stop sending me Disney Cinemagic!

We'll see if they agree...

Thank you for your email concerning the Disney Channels on Sky.

I can confirm that Disney Channel and Playhouse Disney are now included in Kids Mix which is part of the Entertainment Mix which you subscribe to. I have now cancelled your 5.00(GBP) subscription for Disney Channel as from 20/03/2006 and you will now pay 21.00(GBP) per month for your Sky Digital Account.

I trust that the above information assists with your enquiry. Should you require any further assistance please contact me at the above email address.
------------------------------

And sure enough when I checked today I get all the Disney channels except Cinemagic, just what I wanted.
