They say thing run in 3's. Why does this always happen to me. In july 2005 i had a car accident which was my fault and wrote my car off, then on 1st dec someone hit me head on (not my fault) and i'm still waiting for my excess back. Then on Saturday i was backing out of my drive i reversed into someones parked car. Only scratched my bumper but put a small dent on the front wing of there car and scratch. My husband said to me as already had 2 accidents see if they would go private rather than through insurers. How much do you think a new wing and spray of the wing will cost? it was a vw Golf S reg. He has taken car 2 places this morning and they are sending quotes out to him in post today.
Feel so low. Help me please.

should only be about £150
I wouldn't worry about the other 2 claims as most insurers won't want to know about them now anyway.

Thanks for your help. I'm a real worrier and do stress about things like that. He has rang to say he has been to 2 places to get quotes, 1 a bmw dealer and the othjer Gladwins but the quotes were posted out last night.
I telephoned a vw dealership and they told me about £450.

Both quotes sound about right at both ends of the scale. I would expect him to come back seeking around £250 though (which in your position is probably a win) much more than that and you might have to suggest going through insurance.

if he loves his golf as most owners do def do not pay anymore than £250,say that if it goes through the insurance they WILL write his car off

its metalic paint , would that make a difference? It was my neighbours sons car, so i doubt he would be pocketing the difference as that would makes things un comfortable for our good neighbours wouldnt it?
Would they write his car off for a small dent? Youve got me well worried now.

Do your work in the car industry? Is that how you can give me a rough guide? Thanks for your help.

met paint only a little bie more,
they would consider writing it of ONLY because of the age of the car and the cost of repair at say £500,
if they are good neighbours then shopping around for more quotes is the way,big bodyshops always charge more
have a look here and see if the colour is on the page,a second hand good condition wing would be better as in the end colours will match better

He is entitled to insist that used or pattern parts are not used.

Hi Wannabe, yes and no,my main work is on powerstations but I also work for various dealers,
dacouch, yes he can demand only genuine parts are used but it seems from the thread that they are good neighbours so I would doubt it,as long as he is happy with the repair who cares if they are pattern
