This might be usefull. Following the budget almost two yrs ago, it was announced that those people over 60 or reg disabled, would get free travel within their borough. (I realise each council was different)
On Apl 6th, in Northants, those entitled, will start this long awaited scheme. Plus, for a £1 flat single fare, we will be able to travel beyond the borough (which we live in) to MK. Bedford, Rugby etc.
Maybe we could add what each county was introducing.

A minor (but important point) is that it is not county by county but local authority by local authority.
To quote from the government website:
http://www.dft.gov.uk/stellent/groups/dft_localtrans/documents/page/dft_localtrans_036813.hcsp
"People over 60 and people with disabilities will benefit from free bus travel within the area of the local authority where they live (district councils in shire areas), from 9.30 am Monday to Friday and all day at weekends."
The catch is therefore that they are only obliged to allow you free travel within the local authority area, but not to anywhere outside that area. Some councils are applying this very strictly (e.g. district councils within Cambridgeshire where it is only free for travel within the local authority area and a charge if the bus crosses a boundary at all) and some very liberally (e.g. district councils within Bedfordshire where it is free for travel across the whole county and even for some buses that only start or end in the county).
