Hi guys,
Looking to colour code my door handles so just getting a list ready of the stuff I will need:
800cc and 1200cc wet and dry paper
Plastic primer.
Ford moondust silver paint(will get from dealers)
Clear lacquer
I am not convinced that the Halfords own brand stuff is that good..I don't want to have to paint the handles again a few months down the line..I know to get the handles looking good its going to mainly be down to the prep work. Can anyone recommend a good brand for the plastic primer and lacquer. I don't mind buying off the internet as I wont be doing the work till next weekend.
Thanks in advance.:money:

If you can find any in your Halfords there's some Foliatec interior remover that would probably be good for degreasing prior to keying and priming. It's a xylene based thing that's designed not to melt plastic. They may be in the bargain bins and should be £1.

i used wipes like this once, they really dull down the plastic and make it a good base to paint or stick things to.

Thanks for the advice guys!
I painted the handles a few weekends ago..turned out pretty good for a first attempt. Spent 3hrs fitting them on Saturday as the door cards were a PITA to remove.
Here is the result(sorry about the lousy pic!):

Cheers.Well hopefully I have done a good enough job and the paint doesn't peel so I wont have to remove the handles again. Have to say it was worth it in the end. Cost just under £35 for the handles and all the bits to paint them which isn't too bad!
