Anyone help please....... My daughter has just gotten a puncture and is trying to change tyre herself. She has been phoning me to say that she has jacked up the car and got off the wheel nuts but that the tyre will not budge. She has managed to get the Fiat Symbol thing off and she says there appears to be a bolt of sorts behind it. Any idea anyone?
Thanks in advance

I think you mean - wheel wont come off.....
it sounds like she is trying to move the centre hub (the fiat centre bit only covers the hub if I recall)
The wheel should be free but may need 'a bit of a kick' from behind to try and free it.

Is it an alloy?
I had a set, couldn't move them at all.
I tried loosening the bolts, driving, braking, turning, nothing worked. Had to leave it as ATS, where they used a large hammer on the wheel.
(The bolt in the centre probably holds the stub axle on)

Use a hammer and a block of wood. Hold the wood against the rim and whack it a few times with a hammer. The wheel is stuck because of bi-metallic fusion - where 2 different metals have reacted (probably with the addition of road salt) and fused together. Once separated use a wire brush to clean the rust/corrosion and put some copperslip type stuff on the hub.

Worth doing this to all 4 wheels when she's home, until then the AA's good.

Jack up car with all 4 nuts slackened, remove nuts.
Using your palms smack the top of the tyre at ten past 10, the shock may release the wheel.
When you have some free time, take off the wheels and do as above.

My daughter had the same problem in her Panda she had to leave it at the end of the day.
If desperate pop the bolts back in and leave loose the try moving the car, steering left to right. If really desperate use the kerb (might damage wheel though if not careful).
If not a total emergency wait until morning and follow vikings advice.

Good advice, but don't knock it off the jack.
Mine went up on the lift, so you could get behind it to get a good swing on the hammer.
(I had no charge for this, just 8 cans of beer for the lad that did it)
It can break the wheel if you're unlucky. Don't watch if you like your car.

Tell her just to give it a kick at the top, this will dislodge it...
Should always put a bit of copper grease onto the hub to stop it from sticking
