my wife has a T reg Vauxhall Corsa 1.0 ltr and has just had a new clutch fitted, the mechanic who fitted the clutch has said he had to remove the engine and gearbox to fit it, i have friends who say that you do not have to remove these to get at the clutch can anyone tell me who is right many thanks

In a lot of cars it may be possible to do it without removing the engine, however, it can make the job harder and more time consuming not doing so.
Some corsa's do have an access panel so if yours does question why it wasnt used.

I don't know but where are you going with this? Sounds like the job has already been done?

i was wondering the same, probably feels they were over priced, happy at the time when it was quoted but now wants money back.

i had thought i had been ripped off,and i thought the mechanic had the car quite a while,so when i got told that it shouldnt take long as you dont have to take the engine/gerbox out i was a bit curios,
