Hi all
just purchased an mg zt 2.5 v6 2005 on a 54 plate with 36,200 miles, i dunno much about this car but i have a few questions if someone can help me..
1. Clutch is stiff is this normal?
2. Airbag light on any ideas
3. Under the seat there's a black connector loose
4. Windscreen rubber seal is broke on drivers side, could this let water in.
5. Funny noises when ignition is switched on'' sounds like electrical noises'' coming from passenger side, could this be anything to do with airbag
6. Interior map lights hissing when on
bought this car for £3680 from a private seller was on the market for £3999, was this a bargain i dunno, missus angry as i have 2 young boys aged 1-4yrs wanted me to get zafira but ended with v6 mg lol
thanks all for ur time

I'm surprised you only have 6 faults with your MG.
Give it a few more days and you'll be asking where is best to get the head done...

2. Airbag light on any ideas see below question
3. Under the seat there's a black connector loose this could be the problem with the airbag light

5. Funny noises when ignition is switched on'' sounds like electrical noises'' coming from passenger side, could this be anything to do with airbag could just be the fuel pump?

connect up the connector, this may solve the airbag light, but previous owner may have disconnected for a reason.
did you not check these faults before the purchase?
probably paid just a little bit more than you should have as it was a private sale.
To boost sales of the MG ZT, Rover included a free snake in the interior light.

The K series V6 is different to the straight four engines and it is very rare to have head gasket failure on this.
As for the airbag light, unclip, spray wd40 and reconnect should do the trick. Thank BMW for insisting on using these components.
Head over to forums.mg-rover.org and I'm sure they will have the answers to all your problems.
Thanks

The "funny electrical nosie" is the fuel pump something common with all multi point injection cars IIRC
The connector could either be for the airbags, or sometimes it is an emergency fuel cut off, My mum's old bravo ( yes i know completely different car!) had a cut off switch under the passsenger seat, so if the car had a hard impact the cutoff would activate as a fire prevetion method.

Have you any evidence to suggest that thats a widespread problem with the v6, or did you just hear that from your mate down the pub?

1. Could be a sign of a worn / dry cable OR maybe a clutch on its way out.
2. Could be one of several things. will need proper diagnosis.
3. Nothing that would worry me.
4. If its not letting water in, nothing that would worry me.
5. Have a mechanic check.
6. Nothing that would worry me.

3.black Connector Under Seat Not Used For Uk
4.windscreen Is Bonded In So There Should Be No Leak '' Fingers Crossed''
5.fan And Vents Setting Itself Due To Climate Control
6. Still Hisses Could Be A Snake :d
Anyways Been Duped In For Service And All It Needed Was Front Brake Pads And Oil Change
Thanks Guys For Your Time Much Appreciated

Erm the fact it's an MG gave it away...
The reason why I gave up stocking them about 10 years ago...

Was that why you gave up stocking them - because you knew so little about them?
Not seeing any documented evidence that there is a major issue with head gaskets on 2.5 v6's.

I have fond memories of selling rovers. I was a trade underwriter in my spare time for about 10 years for a local rover dealer group, so a good percentage were rovers that were too old (3+ years) for them to retail.
I would still have a soft spot for the 2.5 v6.... hence the irrational defensiveness...
