Hi, I just wanted to point out what a complete waste of time the Connect by Hertz car share scheme is!
Instead of going to my local Hertz branch that's open 24 hours where I can hire a car for £25 per day with unlimited mileage, and is guaranteed to be clean, Connect by Hertz offers you a car that isn't guaranteed to be clean, costs £4 per hour to hire, only gives you 30 free miles, and then charges you 25p per mile thereafter.
So let's put this into perspective: I need a car tomorrow to do 120 miles in - I can either hire a car for £25 and fill it up with say £10-15 petrol - total cost £40 max and keep it for 24 hours with unlimited mileage.
Or, I can hire a car for a mere 4 hours, it costs £16, fuel is free, but mileage would cost £22.50. Total cost £38.50.
So the Connect by Hertz scheme isn't much cheaper than hiring a car normally, but you get a strict time restriction, you have to worry about mileage costs (if you took a wrong turning for example), you aren't guaranteed a clean car, plus the fact that if the previous user turns up late there won't be any car there for you at all. And they charge a £50 membership fee.
Can anybody see the point in this scheme? Total waste of time in my opinion for anything other than nipping to the shops in.
