I quite fancy having a go with this for a 20 min exercise in the morning

But are they any good, or of limited benefit?

I love these machines, would live on one if I could, I can't access your link maybe because I have a cashback catcher, if you post details of the model then I can comment further, off the top of my head I'd say to make sure it has a good range of programmes to prevent boredom & so you can progress as you get fitter. I train on one which monitors my heart rate so I know I am working in my cardio training zone so I don't cheat!

I go the gym but did look into buying one, it's the one cardio machine I'd want to own but the ones I saw seemed flimsy by comparison & I wondered where I'd put it, have you ever used one? Some people seem to hate them, may be worth getting a day pass for a gym just so you try it out.

I bought an elliptical trainer from eBay as I had used one in the Gym & found it to be a very good workout. I was disappointed with the one I bought from eBay (I think it was an Elipse model) because I found it uncomfortable to use. I found that the footrests were not wide enough apart for my natural feet position and my feet kept slipping off the edge.

I ended up selling that model and buying a different one off eBay which was larger. This one was a VFit model and has been very good up until last week when the main metal pole split at the weld joint... I'm going to have it repaired and keep using it.

My advice would be to try a few different models out first and if you're a larger size than a slim woman I would recommend going for a more robust model...

ps also if you oil it to stop the squeaks don't forget to leave a cloth underneath it to catch the drips.

The V-fit Met2 is GBP169 at Argos, sounds really good value.
