Please help my six year olds adult teeth are really yellow!!!

My six year old has lost seven teeth now and her top ones are fine but the bottom four are very dark yellow. I mentioned it to the dentis last time we went and he was very dissmisive , he saidit was just a little staining and would go with brushing. Since then it seems to have got alot worse and now the other chioldren are being quite nasty about it. before you say it I am taking her back to the dentist next week. But just incase He is uninterested again i wondered if any of you had experianced this or had any advice?????

Adult teeth always look a lot more yellow that the 'milk' teeth which are very white. The contrast highlights this more.

It could be staining making it worse.

Has the child been on antibiotics? Vitamin supplements? (Minadex and other iron supplements for kids sometimes really stain the teeth).

Maybe she could do with a bit of toothbrush instruction just to get her cleaning a bit better.

Does she wobble out baby teeth quickly, or hang on to them even when really wobbly? Really wobbly teeth can impare brushing - as it hurts to brush around wobbly teeth.

Many possibilities, but have another word with the dentist to find out which one applies to her.

I think i posted the same thread 2 years ago, my son is 8 today and his teeth look perfectly normal. Like toothsmith said i think it's just the contrast against the babyteeth.

thanks for your replies no she hasnt been on antibiotics and does not have lots of coulored food or drinks, as i cant give her those things because she gets hyper.

I have been brushing them for her to try and clear it .

I wouldn't worry about it too much until she sees the dentist.

Pointless trying to brush it away if it's just the natural colour difference. And it will only heighten her anxieties about it.

Ok thannk you very much toothsmith i will get her back to dentist asap. The thing that makes me think it is something more than natural colouring is that the backs of her middle two n the bottom is actually brown, almost like a heavy smoker. I hate to think of her being picked on. Also you have reminded me that she does have chewy omega fish oil vitamins and these are orange or blackcurrant, so i will mention that to the dentist when i go. many thanks for your advice

Hi all just an update, we saw a stand in dentist and he said some of the discolouration was prob as a result of a bad bang to the jaw before her teeth came through. he said he would attempt to give them a clean but warned that it might not be very affective but as he cleaned for less than 5 mins nearly all the staining has gone :j :j :j

my daughter went to scholl the next day and showed her teeth to everyone.

I will be brushing them myself at least twice a week to make sure that she doesnt ever have to go through that again. Thank you for your advice toothsmith I wish our normal dentist was as nice as you.
