Hi
Going to Florida soon, and need straightners that will work (and be hot) while I am there. Can anyone suggest any that I can buy here and take with me, or wonder what the gas ones are like? (will gas be hot enough)
Thanks for your help
Hello fishhawks
I'll move your thead to the 'Health & Beauty' board.
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule (http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=1009335#post1009335)) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com (abuse@moneysavingexpert.com).

I use my normal ones wit a 2 pin adaptor and they are OK. It does take a bit longer to heat up but once hot work the same. Mine are ghd so maybe the ceramic ones retain heat better and the voltage issue doesn't affect performance too much?

word of warning. my ex girlfriend was american and bought me one of those back massager things. it wasn't at all comfortable as it seemed to be vibrating at painful rather than relaxing speeds. i bought a step down converters to reduce the voltage and it was a lot better so it was obviously going at twice the speed it should have prior to that. i would be very careful with something that is designed to get hot and goes right next to your face.

I have a pair of ghd's too and i and took those to america... used the 2 pin plug. Although they took longer to heat up and werent as hot as usual, they did the job...
I agree with vicki in that I think the ceramic ones retain heat better, so they might be a good buy
My hairdryer, however, did not work properly (wasnt as hot and blew out really slow- if that makes sense)

Hi, my ghds have always worked fine in the states but I make sure they're in my hand luggage - I'd be lost without them!
The last time I went my friend bought a $7 pair from the chemist and she said they were the best straighteners she'd ever used!
