Hi, I'm pregnant and my skin has gone crazy crazy with spots galore. Should I go to a beauticians for advice or does anyone have advice on a good cleanser/toner/moisteriser that would help?
Thanks!

Congratulations on your pregnancy and my sympathies on your skin. I had the same problem with one of my pregnancies. Had to stop using soap and cleansers altogether, instead washed myself with Aqueous cream which is just a good cheap moisturiser that can be bought from the chemist. Hopefully your skin will clear up soon, only lasted a few weeks for me.

Try using sudocreme at night cos this should help to calm them down. Very cheap and doesn't block the pores. Congratulations!

Oh I really really sympathise ........

Its been a good few years now since I had my first son (he's 31 now!). I used to go to the clinic and look at all the glowing mums there - and then there was me. White and spotty... :o tired and worn out.

The specialist I saw at the hospital said that the baby was taking all the goodness from me. I have no idea if that is true and things have changed no doubt since I was pregnant! On the positive side - I had a beautiful healthy baby at the end of it.

Can I suggested perhaps comfrey ointment? Later in life (and earlier) I have had some awful conditions to deal with and it is only now that I have it sorted!!

I found a comfrey rich ointment (its all natural) by Viridian, in a tub - there's a link on one of the sites here somewhere, it really calms the skin down. And I changed also to using pure (not the high street copies) mineral make up. I prefer the healing foundation by Elemental Beauty. It contains a healing substance called Allantoin - which is in that particular comfrey ointment too.

If you want any links - say - and I will find them for you.

Or you could do a search re mineral make up and comfrey and find the threads on here. You will see that some of us have had an interesting journey!

Re the comfrey - you don't need to use a lot. It is quite greasy - and I only apply it at night. During the day I use Liz Earle light moisturiser.

Hope that has been of some help.
