Hi all,
I was just wondering whether anyone knew if East Midlands trains still served free tea and coffee on their London - Sheffield trains?

When I was a university student (10 years ago:o ) they did, but it's been so long since I've been on this service that I'm not sure if they still do it!

Sadly, it seems not:

Q. would like to know whether East Midlands Trains will continue Midland Mainline's service provision of free coffee and tea for all customers?

A. We will not continue the free tea and coffee currently provided by Midland Mainline in standard class, although it will still be offered to First Class passengers. We will be introducing an at seat service which includes quality coffee and tea at reasonable prices. It is not economically viable to provide this service for free and we believe that Midland Mainline had intended to discontinue this service if they had have been awarded the franchise again.

Bo**ocks. MM took great pride in the fact they provided such a good service and had no plans to remove it. Once upon a time they even gave out free newspapers...

(Not that it ever made much business sense: the std service was so good that few people travelled in first - they even had to declassify whole carriages as a result!)
