i bought a brand new fiat grande punto two and half years ago,
an air bag warning light showed up on the car display unit, after reading the manual telling me to take it to fiat dealer,
fiat looked at the problem and said it had a wireing problem but is not coverd under the warranty????
why not and how can a car only two and half years old need (a new wire loom ) to fix the problem or a botch job for half the price be needed??/:confused:

Perhaps contact Fiat customer services directly. Does not sound right at all if still under manufacturers warranty. Makes you wonder what is covered if not this.

Yes, customer services is often a good call. If the car is two and a half years old and has an airbag fault then of course it should be under the warranty.
The only things which should not be are things which can wear out such as clutch, brakes, etc.
This is all assuming that you've kept up a regular service schedule according to the manufacturers programme?
My girlfriend had a problem with her Peugeot where she closed the glovebox (entirely normally) and the dashboard just cracked open. It took quite a fight and many calls to Peugoet customer services but eventually they agreed to pay for a repair, as it is something which should not happen.

this should not really matter as the airbags or the electronic system that controls them is hardly a servicable item.
i got work done by my ford dealer who only ever serviced the car once, they done the warranty work no problem and didnt even ask about its service history.

For fiats the 3rd year warranty is provided by the dealer. I'm 99% sure it doesn't cover all the same things the 2yr manufacturers warranty does.
