Cleaning car seatbelts

Can anyone recommend a product that cleans car seat belts(the actual strap) ???

I have absolutely no idea what product to use but I would suggest you contact your local garage or car dealer and ask for their advice.

If you attempt to clean it with household cleaning products, the chemicals may affect (weaken) the belt material. As an essential safety feature of your car, you don't want to affect (reduce) the strength of the belt material.

1st qu. is why do you want to?

I am going to clean mine cos they got a bit mouldy due to car being laid up over winter, I am intending to use a damp cloth.

They have a few dark oily fingermark stains on them,and on a cream coloured belt they look unsightly.If there were the usual black belts they wouldn't show

I've found that baby wipes will remove pretty much everything from car upholstery, including oil. I can't see them doing any harm.

Mild soapy water, washing up liquid, best & don't leave any residue, so wiping as dry as pos, with another cloth.

AVOID anything with bleach, or solvents, as this could weaken the material.

I would use a steam cleaner, because of the indentations in them its hard to get dirt out, I always use my steam cleaner on it and really blasts the gunk out :D

TRy a drop of eucalyptus oil, I doubt it will affect the strength.

I cleaned our car seat belts with watered down 'Ariel liquid' and made sure I rinsed well with clean water. I dried them off with an old towel and left the windows open to completely dry.

I wouldn't think Ariel or any other washing liquid could affect the nylon material as Ariel is meant for fabric anyway.

I used upholstery cleaner once, but I found it not so good as the Ariel.
