Whilst driving home this morning i noticed that my indicators just all of a sudden stopped working. The indicators don't work and the lights don't flash on my dashboard.
I have checked the fuses and they seem fine.

My car is a Renault Clio 1996 1.4 RT.

I have no idea what else it could be - somebody mentioned a relay, but again i don't know what this is or how to check it.

Any help would be appreciated, as i need my car for work.

Thanks very much!

Probably a relay. Shouldn't be too expensive, if you can't get drawing of where it is I would just take it to your local independant garage.

If it's not that then you won't like this:

The indicator circuit are usually linked with the hazard lights.

I had a fiesta where a piece of paper had to be place in the gap of the hazard button to hold it to one side for the indicator to work, try that.

Hintza - i read that 1 earlier and i really hope it isnt that!
the person on that thread said they could hear the indicators trying to work - mine don't do that - its just total silence.
I'll try and find where the relay or flasher unit is. Hopefully won't be too expensive if its that.
I'll probably ring my local garage in the morning to see if they can have a look!

Thanks.

If not relay, may need indicator stalk replaced.

ii guess we need to know if the hazard light button is working, if not we can assume its the relay

Hazard button not working either, so hope its just a relay.
Would this be in the fuse box? And would it be easy to replace?
Thanks.

yeah, doddle

goto a scrap yard and practice there

your handbook will more than likely tell you

Do your hazards still work ?
If so the chances are it is your flasher unit.
I don't know about your car but these are usually small silver things, about the size of a matchbox. You will normally have two next to each other.
If you can find them, switch them around, if now your hazards are out but your indicators working you know one is faulty.
Although it needs replacing for the time being untill you can get to the motor shop, it is safer to keep your indicators on the go and forget about the hazards.

If so it will probably only be your flasher unit.

Switch them around, if your hazards are out and the indicators working, one of the units are faulty, they're not expensive.
Although you need to replace it, for the time being untill you can get to the motor shop, it is safer to have indicators and not to worry about the hazards.

Check that out it seems to be a download of the user manual for a 1.5 Clio, you may be able to see where to look to find the faulty part

Double checked fuses and they are ok, and i switched the big relay fuses to see if that made any difference, but still the same, no indicators or noise  Think i'm going to have to book it into the garage and get them to have a look at it. I really didn't want it to cost me alot as i am thinking of buying a new car soon!

get a relay for a couple of quid and try it, if that doesnt work then take it to the garage
