Train Ticket Exchange/Buy/Sell

I've been trying to find a site to buy/sell/exchange train tickets, for getting rid of tickets that you can no longer use or to buy cheaper tickets from someone who has to give it up.

I couldn't find any, so created some dedicated forums on the topic:

This is *not* spam, it's just a straight link to forums to post tickets on the lines.

Hope this helps people get/sell cheap tickets without having to pay ebay fees or sift through mixed up sites.

Sounds like a good idea but is sadly totally illegal. National Conditions of Carriage (which governs all tickets issued in the UK) states
2. You may not transfer your ticket

A ticket may only be used by the person for whom it has been bought. It cannot be resold or passed on to anyone else.

I hate to be a spoilsport but under the Transport Act 1962 section 67 it is illegal to buy or sell railway tickets in the UK.

There have been well publicised busts of sites selling them ebay etc and the rail companies are watching for this.

Thanks for the information. Nothing in there says it's illegal to have a forum for this. It sounds like it's a risk the buyer/seller takes on whether they want to post/buy it.

Interesting since these are on eBay all the time or scattered around other sites.

Hmm, I think you may find there's a legal case against a forum set up specifically to promote illegal activiy. I'd at least put a BIG warning on there!
eBay is awash with stolen gear, pirated software and otherwise illegal stuff. Train tickets are just another example.

Yes - and all totally illegal as said. The difference between this and, say, buying stuff at a car boot sale is that here you are 100% certain to be breaking the law.
