Hi all, asking on behalf of my wife - where is the best place to get maternity bras from, given that every six weeks or so she will need to buy more. Label is irrelevant, cheaper the better (as long as it doesn't affect comfort), online preferable.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

I bought mine from Mothercare and Bravissimo. I bought them after about 12 weeks and I'm still wearing the Mothercare ones now.

I'll be heading back to both places and perhaps Mammas and Pappas for nursing bras in a few weeks.

Figleaves I got mine from. Just a cheap pack of 2 and I never needed to get anymore.

The National Childbirth Trust have a catalogue which includes maternity and nursing bras.

I bought maternity bras from Mothercare, but the nursing bras from NCT, as they were much, much better designed!

In some NCT branches there are trained maternity bra fitters whi fit and sell their range of bras.

She won't need them every 6 weeks - they change at the start and again closer to the birth :) when they start getting bigger towards then end then go get nursing bra's - best place is Bravissimo - yes there are cheaper ones but she needs to make sure it fits properly as otherwise she can get problems :)

maternity bras are needed in the 36+ weeks...but the size will be fluctuating ..i bought mine from mothercare, just two of them. once i had the baby i tried a few places for good nursing bras wasnt satisfied with any. figleaves was a life saver since i ordered a few i thought i would like to try and kept what i liked and returned the rest. no return cost either. now i am sticking to the brand freya which for me is totally supportive. since i used egg card to pay for it i got 20% from figleaves. i dont know whether its still valid. u need to check the egg website.

Mothercare do ones which are maternity through to breastfeeding (if your wife needs that!). I did not have to buy more than 1 size though.

I've just been wearing my normal bras during the day - and a 'soft' non underwired when I'm in the house and in the evening. I'm now 36weeks and havent found they've changed dramatically in size throughout. She will need nursing bras for after - I'd recommend she just buys one with a bit of stretch in it for the first week when the milk comes in and they go huge. They'll settle down after that and she can get another if she's going to breastfeed.
I breastfed both my other two children with no problem so I would say that wearing normal bras affects milk supply - this hasnt been the case with me.
I really wouldnt think that she'd need a new one every 6 weeks.

We have a good general thread on bra fitting (http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=495102) on the Health and Beauty board, so I'll move you over there but leave you as a separate thread for bras in pregnancy.

MOVING THREADS FOR BETTER RESPONSES

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule (http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=1009335#post1009335)) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com (abuse@moneysavingexpert.com).

If you can find a style that fits her correctly in the shops then I find ebay very good for bras for maternity and nursing. While I was pregnant I got some normal (not maternity) non underwired supprt bras which were prettier and cheaper I got mine from M&S but there are a lot of places that sell them. Having said that my boobs were never that huge so if your missus has grown a lot she may need more supprt than I did! Hope all goes well with her pregnancy.
