I can't get hold of my orthodontist to ask and since I've been in my new job, I've been wondering about this.

At the moment I keep them in water, water and mouthwash once a week and attempt to brush them with a baby toothbrush in a sealed small Tupperware box, but they are still looking grubby.

Would dissolve able denture tablets clean them? It's just I have an awful cough and want to make sure they are germ-free.

sterident or milton solution work well.

The orthodontist sold us some disolvable tablets (similar to denture cleaner) for my son's twin blocks. A daily soak and gentle brush kept them clean.

What kinda braces are they? I wear invisalign and sometimes even gentle brushing doesn't get all the tiny 'bits' out of the nooks and crannies. I therefore use a sharp point of tweezers covered in a handkerchief.

Mouthwash makes the 'clouding' worse apparently.

We use denture cleaning tablets for my daughter. Sterident active fresh have a metal safe formula. She just soaks them in this for 10 minutes a days and then gives hem a quick brush.

I used to use the denture tablets, if you aren't very well I'd also use something like listerine as that is an antibacterial mouthwash, I wouldn't keep the brace in it but a rinse should get any bugs.

I always used to use denture tablets on my braces, although this was about 15 years ago now! I seem to remember that was what the orthodontist reccomended. I'd give them a quick once over with the toothbrush too, if they needed it. I used to do them every day vike this and no adverse effects!

On the Invisalign leaflet or website, it says not to use mouth wash. I just soak my trays in icy cold water while brushing my teeth and then I take the aligners out and brush them with a tiny bit of toothpaste.

I used to have something that was called Bracemate which was like a large denture cleaning tablet really. Don't know if they still make it but it was superb!

They aren't invisalign ones, just the plastic retainers. Thanks for the tips :)
