hi wonder if anyone can help ? me and a mate are going to birmingham for new years eve we are travelling from nottingham and staying in a hotel that we have booked im just trying to sort the cheapest way to get there , at beging of week i went on line and found about 4 train companys that were doing singles from 4 pound each way brill i thought will book that later ! when i went back today diffrent story offering me same times etc as previously but now there starting from 8 pound each way !!!:mad: wot is going off ?? if it has changed so be it but strange , could anyone help me find cheapest route to birmingham staying at b16 area leaving about 2 in afternoon back after 12 next day would be grateful for any help or money off codes thanks guys x

You should have booked it there and then - the £4 tickets have sold out is what has happened. And the £8 ones as well by the look of it

A £17.80 open return is the cheapest now on offer. That won't go up and you can buy it on the day.

How old are you? If you're under 26 get a Young Person's railcard. If any of the group are under 16 you qualify for a Family Railcard.

Investigate the possibility of 'GroupSave' tickets (ask at your local station): many train companies allow four people to travel for the price of two but I'm not sure if yours is one of them.
