Wouldn't touch 'em with a 10ft bargepole - totally incompetent customer services. A term containing the words '!!!! Up' and 'Brewery' spring instantly to mind whenever I hear the name Lovefilm.

Sent me a threatening letter for £100 arrears they had dreamed up on an account I closed with a company they later took over. Had proof of cancellation but their arrogant 'pay or else' approach permeated right through their organisation. Solicitor's letter required to shut them up!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

i think you won't be able to use this even if you cancel ur membership. it is in t&c. u can read it by clicking on the link and it is at the bottom of the page.

another member of the your family may get it even if it is the same address!!!!
my wife is using the free subscription and i still have my membership. :rotfl:

love film are ok, but i origionally signed up only for the 2 mth trial, but you have to give a fair bit of notice, to cancel, otherwise, like me, who did it a couple of days before the end of the trial, and they had tole me I had to pay for the next month, and then i could cancel. We actually started to liek love film, and have continurd, but after seeing that sainsbutys was cheaper, i tried to cancel from lovefilm, and instead was offered the same as sainsburys, at 1/2 the price we were paying origionally!!!
FANTASTIC!! btw, service seeams to be good, been with then a year or two now, but not had to contact CS as of yet.

Brilliant - thanks for the link, am signing up now  Was unsure which trial to go for next after completing the Blockbuster one but this has sorted it.

Dunno if anyone else has had this problem, but I typed in the code, signed up and everything but it only showed up as a 2-week free trial. I E-mailed them about it and they are kinda fobbing me off by repeating the same thing again and again:-

"We apologise for any misunderstanding, as we have explained previously that there is no promotional code used in your account. This is the reason you are on 14 days free trial period."

I've sent a 3rd E-Mail, telling them I fully understood what they meant and that again I want to know if I can re-register or if they can manually up my trial to 2 months on my production of the code. If they fob me off a 3rd time I think I'll just cancel it.

Hmmm....

"Thank you for writing to us at LOVEFiLM.

We are sorry to inform you that since you have already created an account with us, you would not be able to register again with the promotion code.

Please feel free to contact us, in case of any further queries."

So they know I have the code, and have the power to up my trial accordingly yet won't bother. And as I said, I DID use the code. I'm debating whether to cancel the trial altogether - their customer service certainly seems questionable. In my 2nd E-Mail to them I even said I had already had a 1 month trial with Blockbuster and 2 weeks just wasn't enough to evaluate a company. Sounds like complete laziness on their part.

Can you not open another account using a different email address and put the gift code through again? My husband and I both have this 2 month deal at the moment and when it comes to cancel I am hoping to be able to get it again using different email addresses.

A different email address AND different payment card and you may be on your way ;)

Looking at their T&C there is no reason why you can not cancel at the end and use it again as far as I can see. The T&C say:
1. The gift voucher is for a LOVEFiLM member to pass on to any non-member of LOVEFiLM. 2. The gift voucher is not valid for any existing member of LOVEFiLM or any LOVEFiLM-powered site.

As soon as you cancel your account you become a non-member so you should then qualify to start again.

You might have to argue the point though, I suspect they meant to exclude ex-members too but messed up the wording.

I have had a free trial with them in the past and was accepted on this one with no probs - not many films i am bothered about at the mo though! (any suggestions!)

Thanks for the suggestions etc but I think I'll just move on to another free trial after this one. I'm not impressed with this lot at all - a 2 week trial where you have to send your DVD's back FIVE days before you cancel is utterly ridiculous IMO. It's a shame cos I really like the layout of the site and the rating system etc. Really bad business on their part not just upping the trial time period for me, or letting me re-register - for all they know I could have been thinking about signing up permanently on the basis of having a fairly long period to evaluate them.

I'm the same, I seem to have watched everything and am now waiting for all the new releases in February and March. As far as suggestions go, I watched The Dukes of Hazzard (teenage son's choice) and was pleasantly surprised, it was watchable and very funny. I also watched The Island (husband's choice) and it was also good.

Hehe, if I was a teenage boy The Dukes of Hazzard would be my choice too :D I'm 26 and I've been trying to persuade my wife that we should watch it, but she thinks it sounds rubbish. I only really wanna see Jessica in her bikini. :rotfl: :D
