Hiya,
This may be a silly question as I'm new at this, but I have just got my own domain. I hit a problem with another free website, tripod, where i could build the website but had to have a website address i didn't want (i want the domain i have just got)
Does anyone know how i build a website with my website address and if there's a site which will allow me to do this?
Thanks
Nat

i think that freevirtualservers.com have free web hosting with a website builder. if you change your dns (nameservers) to them, and register with them, i think you get about 100mb of webspace. the only catch is that you must put a link saying "this site is hosted by freevirtualservers" or something.
i'm hosted free on jamroll.co.uk, and they give me 350mb webspace and 5gb bandwith. their catch is 5 tiny google ads at the bottom of your page. they also have loadsa free installations you can choose eg: php-nuke and stuff. handy if you want a chat room in your website.

ps: forgot to mention, you can download NVU which is like a watered down dreamweaver at nvu.org i think. then you can download templates with which you can build websites easily.
a few months back, i got a full copy version of netobjects fusion 8 which normally retails at 125 pounds. got it free with webuser magazine. apparently, its the easiest program to make websites with. professionals use it a lot to make ecommerce websites. bloody easiest program i've used.

Hi Nat
You need to use FTP program which you can download for free and a WYSIWYG editor - also, you can download something for free. Try www.tucows.com to find the FTP program and HTML editor, everything there is rated by users. Hope that helps.

You can use Yahoo Geocities for hosting.... they may be ad supported (means popups) but you can remove the ads by using some simple HTMl coding..
If you made your website in a program like Dreamweaver 8 or MS Frontpage etc go to the HTML code view and search for the " </html> " click after it and go 1 line under it and copy n paste the following :
<noembed><xmp>
Save the webpage, this will remove any ads from your GeoCities website once it has been uploaded.
Hope it helps. Any Feedback would be appreciated.

Ok heres what i do,
Start off with www.freewebs.com and create your website. Once done
go to www.tk.tk and use that to create your domain for free, "Example, it would end up as www.bob.tk"
When you are asked for your existing website address use, www.freewebs.com/*yourdomainhere*

good idea but the problem is the ads with .tk
I use www.freedomain.co.nr - guaranteed no ads at all, www.yourdomain.co.nr (same as .co.uk but with .nr instead of uk). and for free hosting try this website : http://www.free-webhosts.com/ there are over 100 web hosts listed and you can choose which 1 best suits your needs.
Hope this helps.
