My daughter had this done when she was at college, she was fine but I didnt notice much difference.

I had this done many, many years ago along with having my eyelashes dyed, but tbh they looked far better with just a coat of mascara. Totally harmless but I wouldn't bother doing it again.

what does it actually do. Eyelashes are so small i cant see what effect it would have on them

but given an eyelash only lives for 3-4 weeks it's a little pointless ;)

I got this done along with a eyelash tint last year. It wasnt as good as i thought it would be and i doubt i would get it done again unless it was for a very special occasion

From memory i paid about £25 for both and although the tinting was quite quick the perming took longer and involved having tiny sticky tubes stuck to my eyelashes, very strange :rotfl:

having the tint on its own made no difference to my lashes but when i had them tinted and permed they looked much longer, curled up and were really noticeable but as i say the last couple times they dont seem to do that so well,

i did try a home kit but never again!!!! i couldnt see lol

i perform these and hey're quite expensive in my old salon they were £35! they did curl your lashes quite well, however i couldnt justify the £35 pricetag!!

i had this done and thought it was a bit of a waste of time and money....my lashes seem to refuse to hold a curl, so this seemed like a good idea, but to be honest, i could see very little difference to the look of my eyes afterwards. it is v safe though but i would not really recommend it as i think the difference is so subtle it is not worth the cost.

I did a beauty course and learned how to do these and have also had them done myself. My theory on them is that if you have thick, straight lashes then they don't seem to hold the perm but if you have weaker lashes then it might be worthwhile. If I were you I'd check out my nearest training college where you can get a student to do it for a fraction of the cost so you don't blow £35+ on something that doesn't work.

At my last visit I was in & out in well under 15 mins & they charged me £17 which I thought was too much but wonder if I'm out of touch?

an eyelash actually has a life span of approx 150 days

don't blow £35+ on something that doesn't work.
if your therapist is qualified and professional using professional products you will get a great result from this. My clients usually have the perm with a complimentary lash tint once every 12 weeks and the lashes still have some curl even at this stage. The tint takes particularly well as the hair is a bit more porous after a perm so the lashes go really dark. Generally another tint is required at the 6 week stage.

ask if the salon uses individual sachets of solution....if they don't do many perms they might have had the solution bottle past its shelf life once opened. I use individual sachets so my clients are sure to get a great result every time.

This is a semi-permanent method of curling your eyelashes. Curled eyelashes will enhance the appearance of the eyes and will normally last between 10-12 weeks. This is a method of enhancing your eyelashes and your face giving an ‘open eyed’ look. Even short eyelashes look more pronounced.

What happens during the treatment: Using a small roller and water soluble glue, the lashes are rolled and separated to help ensure a beautiful natural appearance. Perming lotion is then applied to the lashes and left for 15 minutes followed by the application of a neutraliser. This is then left for a further 15 minutes under cover. Finally, damp cotton wool is used to gently remove the roller, leaving you with enhanced curled eyelashes. Tint is then applied to darken, this takes another 10 minutes.

Important: You will need to visit the salon for a patch test at least 48 hours prior to the treatment to ensure no allergy exists. If you have had any known eye disorders in the past, please discuss this with the therapist at the time of booking.


All in all this should be a pleasurable experience for you, make sure you go to a reputable salon and that your therapist is fuly qualified.

I'm surprised they gave this impression, is it a reputable salon? It doesn't sound very professional....were the girls just wanting to get home earlier?Some girls find this treatment fiddly to do and maybe they need more practice or training and so maybe they were just trying to get out of it.
In a good salon you would have been given proper advice and a consultation to help you decide whether this is the treatment for you and a patch test if you were wanting to proceed.

I charge £10 for a brow and lash tint with a free brow wax if required. Prices depend very much on your location though, it'd probably be double that price in a city.

I'd take about 25 mins for the 3 treatments I mentioned above because the brows can be done while the lash tint is on.
The lash tint should be on the lashes for 8-10 mins so by the time you consult with the client about colours, brow shape, mix, apply, leave for 8-10 mins and removal time the total is about 25.

Did you tell her you didn't notice much difference when you were shown the mirror at the end of your treatment? If you didn't see much difference you should have said either at the time or gone back in within a day or two. If you don't see a difference this is not right.....the fault is either with the therapist or her products! Ask for your money back or to have it re-done. This is an excellent treatment with fantastic results when done properly!!

The salon I have been going to is reputable & professional & not in a city, just a bit expensive. Your comments just the impetus I need to look for an alternative salon.

It can sometimes be difficult to assess how it looks whilst at the salon (my sight not so good) but I would go back if not happy after a couple of days - if I had time........

I had this done a couple of years ago by my friend who is a trained beautician and semi permanent make up artist, it looked great at first, even my OH noticed and said it looked good but after a few days the curl dropped in some lashes and not in others, I had a tint done on them as well and she used blue/black which dosnt look blue at all just really dark, this was gorgeous and lasted really well. Just wanted to mention a product you might be interested in from Revlon which is semi permanent mascara, it lasts for about 3 days, I really liked the product for its lang lasting effect but didnt like the lack of volume, but you wouldnt get that anyway with a perm or tint - best of luck with your choice

feefee thank u too for the valuable info i did think i might have it done again but at another salon as the last couple times i just havent felt they looked as good

i am too scared to try one of the colleges not sure i want a trainee around my eyes!!!

To be honest you should get on fine at college....the tutors are usually watching every move made very carefully.

The only problem you may have is the students tend to be a lot slower so anyone booking in for treatments at college should remember to allow for this.
