Laryngitis and kids

If someone could move this to the correct forum for me please as I wasn't sure which one it should go into.

My 9 year old daughter started with Laryngitis 4 days ago.

She is on antibiotics, balsam etc.

Can anyone whose children have had laryngitis give me an ideas how long they were off school for please.

The doctor said it can take 6 to 8 weeks to get over it so I suppose we have a few sleepless nights ahead as she coughs mainly at night.

I would imagine a week off school would be about right providing she is feeling well enough.

I know it is common sense to wait until she is 100% but I don't want her to stay off longer than need be. She loves school and I love to have her at home with me but they miss out on so much learning when off at this age.

Actually looking at what laryngitis is, a virus you usally get at the same time as a cold, it will probably be when she feels well enough to return to school. He voice and throat may be tender for some time, but if it doesn't stop her from going then why keep her off? It's not an infectous disease, unless she goes about snogging everyone, which I would guess she doesn't.

Anyway, ring the school, but I'm sure they will say let her return when she is up to it, or at the worst after a week.

Thanks for the link although I can't see laryngitis on it.

She is coughing non stop at the minute so I guess she is going to have one hell of a sore throat tomorrow, plus she has some mega sized ulcers inside her bottom lip.
