Is my passport number on a provisional licence?

I need to find a copy of my passport number, but I can't find my passport at the moment.

On my provisional driving licence, there is a number - I only applied for it a few months ago and they asked for my passport.

Although this raises a good point why are all these numbers not the same?

Once you have one you have them all, much more open to fraud etc...
