Quad Helmet for Youngster....Help

I am looking to buy a quad helmet for my youngest but know nothing about sizing etc.

There are kids sizes and adult sizes which overlap. What is the difference between a kids 54cm and an adults 54cm? Can I buy either, or is the adults a lot heavier?

Not looking to spend too much as I imagine she might grow out of it.

Any makes to avoid?

Take her to a shop that sells them. It's the only way to make sure it's a good fit as they all vary in shape.

TBH for fitting of a motorcycle helmet your only option is to try one on.

All manufacturers have differing shapes even if the sizing is the same so some will fit better than others. Even the same manufacturer will have slightly different shapes for different areas in the world. A helmet aimed for the US/europe or asia will differ ever so slightly even when marked the same size.

As for kids 54cm verses adult 54cm in theory they will be the same size internally but you may find the outer shell will be smaller on the kids to bring the weight down as his neck muscles wont be so strong as an adults.

Dont take this as me being patronising but can i suggest you invest in a leatt brace aswell. http://www.leatt-brace.com/index.php?page_id=14&id=3 . Quads are incredibly dangerous in the wrong hands and every precaution should be taken to ensure your kids safety including back protector, shoulder, elbow and knee protection aswell as a good pair of motocross boots such as the alpinestars Tech6's.
