I started a course of treatment at my dentist over a month ago. At the first appointment I was asked to sign the forms and asked if I was exempt from charges. At that point I held an exemption card as our family was in receipt of qualifying working tax credit and the receptionist took my certificate number. I have had 3 out of 4 appointments - the final one is later this week. However, over the last week our family circs have unexpectedly changed and we are no longer eligible for exemption. How does this affect my treatment. Will I be expected to pay for it all? Or just the last appointment? Does anyone know or have experiece of the rules in these circumstances please?

Your circumstances when you began treatment are the important thing.

You could have won the lottery mid-treatment, and you'd still be exempt for that course.

BUT If you miss the appointment then your course will probably be closed and you'll have to pay, so,, make sure you get there! You could rearrange it but if you dont book another appointment they may also close it so the dentist gets paid

Many thanks to you both for replying. I'm relieved to hear that I'm covered for this course of treatment. I can relax and enjoy my appointment on Friday now (if only.......).

Thanks again.
