(CLOSED) Anti-spam screensaver

This is a free screensaver from lycos that sends requests to spam sites (not to the PCs that happen to have sent you a spam email as many of these would just be personal infected machines).

With spam sites experiencing massive hits, the bandwidth they use shoots up thus costing THEM more and more money.

The saver does not disable the spam site, just makes them slow down.

There's a discussion on this going on on the Techie Forum. I would not be surprised if the screensaver HAS been removed though, as its legality is questionable.

In short, the screensaver and its actions may be construed as illegal as it might constitute a Denial of Service attack against certain servers. There is a chance that your own ISP would take exception and disable your account. :(

In any case, increasing the level of Internet traffic in this way will only serve to slow things down further - hardly an improvement !
