Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this: Sorry, giving or asking for medical advice is not permitted on this forum as it’s not what this site is about. If you search 'electric toothbrush' or 'braun oral b' or 'sonicare' you'll find a fair bit already on this.
When used correctly, electric toothbrushes really are better than manual ones.
This seems a particularly good offer on a new and very good toothbrush (I have one). The usual RRP for this brush is £149. This offer is for 2 for £119. You'll need someone to give the other one to though!

This company is nothing to do with me - it was flagged up by another MSEr on a different page a few weeks ago.

Hey joewa,
I recently went through this very dilema only last week.
I spent ages looking online and when at dentist last week i asked my dentist,
I was looking at the philips soni care range but couldnt justify spending over a hundred pound so close to christmas.
So to my relief the one my dentist reccommended was oral b and it was the vitality range he reccommended, i went off to argos and boots and got it half price for £15.99 so very happy to spend that on a toothbrush.
Iv used it for a week now and already noticing a difference in the colour and general clenliness in my teeth. Very happy i didnt spend over a hundred like a nearly did!
Thats my experience with electric toothbrushes.
Hope it helps.
