Hello Everyone!
I am just wondering, when do young people start getting charged for dentist check ups? The thing is that I am now 19 (full-time student), and got an appointment soon, my parents are both on benefits..so will I be charged , anyone know ? because up to the age of 18 I wasn't...?
Better start saving up with Christmas coming up soon !!!

Thanks in advance.

edited: sorry I've spelt "check" wrong in the thread name ... :¬| and can't seem to edit it..

A check up was £16.20 for me the other day, scale & polish included too....I would have thought you'd have to show an NHS exempt card that gives you an entitlement to free prescriptions, dental & eye tests if you were allowed it for free?

youre not on any benefits so you will have to pay. you can send off a hc1 form to try and get some help with costs but they can take a few weeks to come back (if youre entitled to it anyway) so you will have to pay and then maybe you could claim it back.

your parents been on benefits doesnt make a difference - you are a adult in your own right now
