17-10-2008, 10:38 AM
Starting Saturday 18th October we're giving away 12 brilliant LEGO® toys FREE with the Daily Mirror and Sunday Mirror.
It all starts with a police helicopter on Saturday and then pick up another great item every day!

Find out more here: http://www.mirror.co.uk/lego/

Official MoneySavingExpert.com Insert:

Just wanted to add a few more details into the top post. Every day this promotion runs, a voucher for the free lego item will be printed in the Mirror. In England, this voucher's redeemable at Woolworths and Early Learning Centres nationwide. In Northern Ireland, it's redeemable only at Smyths toy shops.

If there's no store nearby where you can get the toys, it's also possible to send for the whole set, which includes 12 toys and a playmat & carry case by post. To get it, send off 7 of the possible 12 free lego vouchers with a cheque for £6.50 (address & payment details are in the paper).

What are the toys?

Police Helicopter
Bulldozer
Fire Boat
Lion
Coastguard Bike
Triceratops
Le Mans Racecar
Fire 4x4 car
Jet Plane
Bi Plane
Police Car
Whale
Playmat
Carry Case & Stickers

How much is the paper?

The Mirror costs 40p on weekdays, 70p on Saturdays and 95p on Sundays. Therefore, if you're planning to send off for the set, it'll be cheapest to grab your 7 vouchers from the weekday editions.

Thanks again to rm345 for posting this offer!

You'll be able to pick up the toys each day from Woolworths (http://www.woolworths.co.uk/web/jsp/storelocator/index.jsp) and Early Learning Centre (http://www.elc.co.uk/StoreFinder.php) stores or apply by post and get the whole set before Christmas. See the paper for full details.

oops - that should be 7 different tokens - sorry

Is it definately in the mirror? i was in Tesco this am and looked thru and didnt see anything:confused:

Maybe its not in Scotland?

It's definitely the mirror - the promotion takes up over half the front page. Not sure what's happening in Scotland. It doesn't mention its exculded in the terms and conditions and on the mirror website it just says "You'll be able to pick up the toys each day from Woolworths and Early Learning Centre stores (Smyths toy stores in Northern Ireland and Ireland)" no mention of Scotland.

Yes you are right we got the paper today and you need to collect any 7 vouhcers and send them with a cheque for £6.50 if you want to get them by post. We will have to do it this way as no way can get to woolies/elc each day! But still worth it I think as we have plenty of lego fans around. Also you still get the full set with just 7 vouchers.

if you collect 6 tokens and pay £6.50 you can get them all. but what i was saying is if the shop as ran out of the lego you can send the voucher to them along with your name and address and they will send you 1 out free of charge

If you want to do the postal bit.
You need 7 different dated coupons and send off £6.50,( This gets you the full set of 12 ,storage box, stickers and playmat)

Or you can collect each day the ones that you want

Sunday = Dozer
Monday = Fireboat
Tuesday = Lion
Wednesday = Coastguard bike
Thursday= Dino
Friday = Le Mans Car
Saturday= Fire 4x4
Sunday = Jet Plane
Monday = Bi Plane
Tuesday = Police Car
Wednesday = Whale
Thursday = Carry Case
Friday = Playmat and stickers

HTH :)

you dont need saturdays as long as you collect 7 out of the 12.

unless you work near a woolworths or ELC it is going to be cheaper to send off for them. if your not near them like me and dont drive it's going to cost you £3 a day bus fare plus newspaper cost.

this is a great deal though as these little sets (well similar) are selling in toys r us for £3.99 each.

Brilliant! My middle son has recently got into lego in a big way so this will be great if I can be organised enough to get the mirror on 7 days before it finishes (unlikely but i'll try!)

Been collecting vouchers since saturday,only 3 to get then i`ll just send for the set.
They are not printing the address to send to till next week for some reason.

The Daily Record is only 35p in scotland so only £2.45 for my vouchers

22-10-2008, 8:38 AM
Am I the only one really disappointed with the lego? £4 worth, I don't think so! The dumper truck consists of maybe five or six pieces which can only really fit together one way.

I think you'd be far better off going to a car-boot sale and picking up far more lego for far less than the cost of 7 daily mirrors (and what a rag THAT is!)

TIA ;-)

Lego is age range 5-12 although seems very simple lego, not brilliant but probably worth more than 40p (you really can't get much lego these days for less than £1.99). In a plastic bag rather than a box and stores don't have loads of them, the early learning centre had run out but the woolies near me had today's.

I would say that in both stores, the sets not on display- had to ask behind till/counter for them as it's not something they appear to normally stock but something done especially for the offer. Good for a little stocking filler.

Well worth the 40p, these small sets are usually around £2/3 each. We have collected ours from Mothercare (they were behind the payment counter). They do not take that long to assemble (around 10/15 minutes max) but they make an excellent stocking filler.

My local Woolworths still got some stock from the previous days. The voucher said you can only claim the model on the day specified. If you missed out a collection, you might try your luck and see if the SA allows to swap the offer of the day to your fav one.

These toys are promotional sets and not for sale. They also come free with toy magazine subscription or fast food kids meal in Europe.

Review for Police Helicopter (last Saturday)

Review for Fire (http://www.brickset.com/detail.aspx?Set=4991-1) 4x4 (Saturday 25 October)
http://www.brickset.com/detail.aspx?Set=4938-1

The Fire 4x4 is very similar to the box set in Woolworths (£2.99). Don't think the Bi Plane or Whale worth more than a pound, but for 40p-95p, a great addition to the Lego collection!

Hi rm345

Thanks a million for this brilliant post, helps me so much as I'm making an advents calendar out of toilet rolls (penguins on an ice floe) and these fit perfectly plus it means 9 less pressies to worry about! :j

I realise I should have started collecting instead of going out yesterday and today but I need these things before 1st December and wanted to see what they were like.

Small tip: go to an ELC in a posh area, there are going to be less Mirror readers around, so there's less risk of them running out and you should be able to get your Lego toys! :rotfl:

Can I just say that this site and all who contribute have been marvellous, really helpful, thank-you.

In Nottingham the LEGO bags are out of stock in Woolworths Victoria Center by 11am. However, the Early Learning Centre on Exchange Walk has loads left by the end of day. I've been in around 3pm each day and got my bag OK.

I cannot understand why people are going to Woolworths and getting disappointed when they have none left, when you could take a short walk and get them from ELC.

The vouchers will only be printed until the 31st October!!!! So buy the Mirror every day and you will get 7 vouchers to post (£6.50 p&P)

ps - I suppose everyone knew 31st November was incorrect as it never has 31 days!

I'm loving these little sets and have got a few doubles so have built them my self :) My boyfriend thinks I'm mad but there such fun and bring a touch of fun to my desk. Have seen the box and playmat and there nothing special (think macdonalds happy meal box and poster) so will probably stop my collection at the toys.

well i got all my vouchers and they in envelope ready to be sent when i get a stamp tomorrow. sending off for them is the cheapest option for me, as i am a stay at home mum and would have to pay £3 a day bus fare to get to the nearest store in hope of getting them. at least sending off i will get them.

i bought the frog from the lego roadshow in july, and that comes in a bag like these do it cost me £3 and there is 7 pieces, so it was very dear, but was only available from the lego roadshow.

"To claim 12 Lego toys, playmat with stickers and carry case, please complete this coupon and send with 7 different vouchers writing your details clearly and in block capitals. Send your application with a cheque (payable to MGN Ltd) for £6.50 to: Mirror Lego Offer, PO Box 900, Washington, NE37 1WY. The closing date is Monday November 10, 2008. Please allow 28 days from the closing date for delivery of your LEGO collection. Applications arriving without 7 different vouchers or a cheque for the correct amount will not be processed."

Do you have the number please? I tried emailing them yesterday but haven't received a response yet.

I couldn't get hold of Sunday's paper as they'd sold out both places I went, and Woolworth's had run out of the lego too (where I was visiting family).

I asked at my local Woolworth's yesterday, and they'd run out of the lego too. ELC still had some, but needed me to bring in the voucher. Of course I didn't have the voucher because I couldn't find a copy of the paper to buy where I was on Sunday, and nowhere was selling it on Monday!

If anyone has a spare Sunday voucher, I'll happily send a stamp and/or one of this week's vouchers in exchange.

does anyone know if you can send a postal order instead of cheque? i dont have a cheque book and am only getting round to sending it!

I hope so because that's what I sent :eek: I'm sure it will be fine, you can pay a postal order into a bank account the same as a cheque so I don't see why not.

i did ring them to ask and the bloke i spoke to said yes they take postal orders but they prefer cheques because then people cant blame them if it gets lost in the post, as you can cancel a cheque if it gets lost.
ive sent a postal order

Iam looking at the application form and theres no phone number on it. These people dont often give phone numbers out as they are just processing houses for the offers.

I'm still waiting too and the cheque has not been cashed. I just called the telephone number and they've told me that is may take up until the 12th December. Apparently the 28-days is referenced to the closing date of 10th November rather than when you sent the cheque. That's actually 32-days and it all sounds a bit suspect to me as they may as well have specified the 12th December instead of 28-days if that was the case. I reckon they have a large backlog but didn't want to admit it.

Could somebody give me a description of the envelope/ box that the lego toys comes in? I'm getting paranoid as I saw a person leave the outside communal postboxes of our flats with a brown padded envelope. It didn't seem big enough to hold 12 toys but you never know!

Mine came in a brown padded A4 sized envelope with a white printed label. The carry case and playmat where flat so it did all fit in quite easily. Hope this helps.

i sent off before the offer closed for 2 sets, with one cheque for £13. cheque has not cleared and no sign of the lego sets, i dont recall there being an issue about more than one per house hold though, would seem a bit silly if there was. time has elapsed for postage i am sure :(

I hope this isnt a duplicate thread - but I couldn't see one. I also hope its in the right place!

Has anyone who saved up the tokems and sent away for the Lego Toys that The Mirror were offering a few weeks ago recieved them yet? I am sure they said they would be here for Christmas, and I was planning on putting them in DS1's stocking, but they have not arrived yet.

Thanks in advance xx

My lego still hasn't arrived and I sent it off as soon as I had all the vouchers. Also my cheque hasn't been cashed. This was going to be a Christmas present for my daughter so I'm getting a bit anxious now. Has anyone got a phone number or email address I can contact them on please?

JenWren
19-12-2008, 5:33 PM
I just phoned them up (Tel: 0207 293 3000) and they checked that I wasn't on their invalid list which is where people go if they didn't send the correct amount of vouchers etc... or their vouchers and payment arrived after the closing date. However the chap I spoke to was not able to tell me if I was going to receive my lego and advised the only way of finding out would be to check with my bank if the cheque had been cashed as all cheques have been cashed.... apparantly! So if your cheque has been cashed your lego is on it's way, there are just delays at the warehouse. I know my cheque hasn't been cashed so I guess that means I'm not getting the lego. I'm very upset as this was a Christmas present for my daughter who loves lego. So I've just lost £4.60 of my Christmas present budget which was spent on newspapers that I would never have normally bought! :confused: Thanks Royal Mail!

Hi there

I am new to the forums, but not the website. So here goes. I am in desperate need of 2 lego vouchers from the mirror, but i need them from the first 9 days, 24th Oct to 1st Nov. I was saving them, but somebody in the house has recycled the papers, and I can't get them back.

Please help if you can.
