Per todays Metro, they're handing out free connection kits at major train stations:

Liverpool st, Victoria, Waterloo, Euston, Paddington, London Bridge, Kings Cross, Charing Cross, Cannon St, Fenchurch St, Birmingham New St, Glasgow Central, Leeds, Manchester Picadilly, Edinburgh Waverley

Saw the same article in Metro and the two main points they hand at freebies in Victoria were occupied by a paintball promotion and a crystals sale with Sally Ann in-between.

Good freebie though if it appears as it should include a headset, CD and voucher for 30mins credit (if a full Skype Starter Kit) worth around £5.

Will check again this lunchtime and evening.

I got one at Victoria this morning, 7:45am - it was at the bit where you leave Victoria mainline to get to the Underground (near the big WHSmith, next to a mobile phone shop).
Didn't actually see the article in the Metro though!

Oh a crappy headset :P

It's a freebie anyway. I thought it was one of those good headsets:

They were giving them out in Canary Wharf last week, inside near Waitrose, said they would be back....the password and login for thirty minutes is on the leaflet they hand out, people don't realise sothey have been binning them!!!

No great loss really. Skypeout's Global calling rate is only 0.017 euros per minute so 30 minutes would be worth 0.51 euros (about 35p)!

I bumped into some students promoting it in Manchester last Friday, they gave you as many as you wanted, and although it's only 30p on each voucher, when you get 10 it's not a bad haul for walking into a pub :D

The headset is a simple 'one earpiece, mic on the lead, volume control, normal 3.5mm mic and headphone jacks on the other end'. No foam bit on the earpiece, which inevitably gets lost anyway, but I used it for a 30 min conversation the other day and it was comfortable. The lead is super-long, so you can always reach the back of your PC/walk around the room!

[QUOTE=busterkeye]what is skype??

I wondered that so clicked on the link above and found a link to the exact question:

http://www.skype.com/

Skype is a little program for making free calls over the internet to anyone else who also has Skype. It’s free and easy to download and use, and works with most computers

There's even a little movie showing you!
