Howdy guys!
I was wondering... ummm... I've come off of my pill (it's been roughly 8 weeks) and although the first 7 weeks were fine mood wise, I find that I'm all over the place at the moment!!!!
Anyone know any cheap suppliments that I can take (natural if pos, as TTC) that will help?
Last night I was in tears because I was convinced that OH had arranged clowns for my birthday party... SO stupid...
I HATE clowns.. terrified of them... I was scared that OH would think it was funny or something!
Please help! I'm losing it BIG time!
Thanks,
LP

hi LP!
you need to up your oestrogen levels until they balance out by themseles - try eating as much soya as possible - soya milk, tofu, soy beans as they are very high. also, you could try evening primrose oil (which works for some with hormone imbalances). try rhodiola which is great for stress and depression and st. john's wort as supplements - the rhodiola will help calm you down pretty much immediately but the st. john's wort will take a little time to work. good luck hon!!!

Hello Little Pickle
I am not a health professional so I can't offer you safe medical advice.;)
I was listening to a doctor on BBC Radio2 the other day. She mentioned that people should check first with their GP or a pharmacist before taking St. Johns Wort, especially if they are taking other medicines.

Little Pickle, I would avoid soya if you are TTC

Isn't St John's Wort for depression?

No advice to give, but welcome to the wonderful roller-coaster world of free roaming hormone levels. Were you on the pill for long? Over an average cycle I go from happy-go-lucky-nothing-can-faze-me-super-mum to axe-wielding-murder-you-if-you-DARE-get-in-my-way-woman before my period. :o
I know it seems a bit glib (I don't mean it that way :)) but some nice chocolate can lift your mood. Doesn't it release serotonin or summert that can make you feel better? Hope you get it sorted soon.

I was on the pill for just shy of 15 years....

Yes, I heard this too - quite worrying!
I am preggers now but when I came off the pill I suddenly started getting bad skin and the doc said it was down to hormone imbalance. I started taking Agnus Castus (see here (http://www.thegoodwebguide.co.uk/index.php?art_id=253)) and it really helped.
Alas, it is not suitable for pregnant ladies but I have found that being pregnant has sorted out my skin a treat! Of course, that's notwithstanding the emotional mood swings ;-)

It always worries me when I hear St Johns Wort mentioned. Not applicable to the OP, but radio stations etc., NEVER mention that it can cause the contraceptive pill to become ineffective - a slightly concerning side-effect! (and yes its generally used as a natural anti-depressant)
Evening primrose oil should be a good one, otherwise eating a very balanced diet with lots of fruit n veg should help.

dye your hair red and smash things up. It helps.

Don't take St John's wort while trying to concieve , it can prevent ovulation. Also I'm not sure if it could affect the fetous if you did concieve.
It's good for depression but not when TTC.
Sounds like your hormones are kicking in good and strong so fingers crossed for you, think of the moods as a positive thing.
Chocolate sounds a good idea :P I'm not TTC but it still sounds a good idea!
