Does anyone know of any websites that are selling bio oil at a reasonable price? The cheapest I've seen is over £9 for 125ml and with postage of approx. £7 to Ireland it's not cheap at all!

Thanks :)

My partner has been a qualified sport and holistic therapist for over twenty years. She uses sweet almond oil. You'll find it in the supermarket with the food oils. We promise you it is just as good, and a lot cheaper!

Hi Allydowd, is sweet almond oil found in bottles as almond oil?

There was something on LK Today on Thursday I think about stretch marks, and they had tested some creams and one was said to be really good. I didn't get a chance to watch it, and my mum didn't manage to get the product written down in time.

Bio Oil is expensive initially but it lasts forever, doesn't it? Quite a good investment. I haven'y found Almond oil to be as effective.

I haven't tried anything of the sort but was starting to think of trying to find some that was cheap and effective, as I've had a c-section and my appendix removed in the space of 4 months. Wanted to try and reduce the scars or at least make them more supple. Is bio-oil suppose to be good for stretch marks too then? Would LOVE to find something to help reduce them as I have them all over after pregnancy.

they had some in costco the other week - i didn't pay attention to the price but with most things in there you get a big saving on high street prices...

There was some bio oil in TJ Hughes around July/August time. Can't remember the price, but it was a very large bottle, and it would probably be a lot cheaper than you would get in the more expensive health n beauty stores.

Yes: Sweet Almond Oil = Almond Oil

The very same that you'll find near the chip fat, vegetable oil and crisp-and-dry in the supermarket. Thus it's also edible and not too expensive.

I am currently trying it for myself on a small surgical scar and I'm happy with the results.

You can also buy it in tiny jars in health food shops/Boots etc with the aromatherapy products. If you check the packet you'll see that it's the same stuff from the almond kernal. It's dearer in the little bottles though! That's marketing for you.

Hi,
I am new on the board but I saw your question and had to respond as I am a former Bio Oil addict!I used to use Bio Oil (which I agree is quite expensive) and now I am using this recipe:
250mls Carrier oil (this can be olive oil or you can use sweet almond as has been already recomended,or wheatgerm oil, or avacado oil anything that has reasonably high vitamin E content and is a good price. For example Walnut oil is great, but it is quite expensive)
liquid from 6 capsules of Vitamin E (super cheap pound shop or Lidls ones will do).
liquid from 4 capsules of Vitamin A. (chirppy chirppy cheap cheap ones will do again)
8 drops of Myrrh oil
8 drops of Frankincense oil (these are quite expensive but a small bottle of each can last around a year so still cheaper than bio oil)
If you are using this on scars or red stretch marks I would add 6 drops of lavender as well.
Put this all in a dark glass bottle, shake it to combine ingredients and store in refrigerator. This makes quite a potent mix so you can dilute it with more carrier oil if you want to.I would also advise that body oils (same with bio oil) work best if you use them on damp skin after a bath or shower rather than bone dry skin and whatever is being used frequency of use i.e twice a day at first if possible is quite often more important than the expense of the product.Using a natural oil blend is also preferable because your skin does not become "dependant" on the moisturiser (sometimes ending up drier than when you started) like it can on petroleum based products.Although some of my Indian friends swear by massaging in a mix of Neem oil and coconut oil (I have tried this and I didn't like the smell).

I have looked everywhere on the web and believe this to be an exclusive offer to our website. Its on the homepage until end of October 2008.

Poundland have their version (Rescue Oil)....I hovered over it wondering whether it was any good as my mum uses bio oil on a scar...if anyone's tried it let us know whether it's any good!

I have posted before that sometimes Home Bargains (also sometimes known as Halfpriceorless) sometimes have Bio-Oil in at a much cheaper price. I got a couple of bottles last time I saw them. I think it was about £4.99 instead of £7 or £8 in Boots. HTH.
