Car Hire Advice

Hello.

I would like to hire a car for four days this coming week.

I've looked at a few websites, but the cheapest and most recommended appear to be 1car1 and Enterprise. Although I am open to any other suggestions....

I'm after some advice really, I'd like to hire the car so that I am fully insured and in the event of damage or theft, I won't have to pay a penny. I believe it is called a damage waiver or some such.

Going through the 1car1 and Enterprise websites, it is not apparent from the outset whether this waiver is included. Has anyone ordered a hire car via the above sites, and can you tell me if the damage waiver is included in the price, or a way I can add it to the package?

If its not included you can add it when you pick the car up.

In general, you'll also be liable for a comparatively small amount even when you have the insurance. On the recent rental it was GBP100 but that varies from car rental co to car rental co.

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) is usually part of the package with car hire but you are still liable for an excess, typically £500. With places like Enterprise for example you pay an extra £10 per day for Excess Protection which eliminates any risk (apart from deliberate damage, wrong fuel in the tank etc). They should talk you through this when you pick the car up.

I think the op is referring to the excess waiver. Typically its about £11 per day.

I got a hire from Hertz this last week, 7 days at £83. Booked a Fiesta, they gave me a Focus 1.8 Zetec. Booked online with a voucher code for 10% off, then 10% Quidco for this price. They wanted £100 extra for the week for extra insurance to cover the £500 excess. I didn't bother.

Basically, I want to pay for the actual car rental on my debit card. My partner then wants to have the excess liability placed on her credit card.

Is this possible, or does anyone know of any companies that will allow this?

You might want to consider Daily Excess by Insurance 4 car hire (http://www.dailyexcess.com/betterprice), mentioned many times on this site.

I use their annual policy, but think you have to rent over 150km from your home address on the annual policy.

Looking at their site Daily Excess - Insurance 4 car hire (http://www.dailyexcess.com/betterprice) the Daily Excess policy doesn't appear to have the same limitation on distance from home as the annual policy.

One of the main benefit's is that it covers window and tyre damage which most rental companies don't cover even with the rental companies super-excess cover.

Used Expedia (.co.uk) dozen's of times and they seam to be the cheapest by £20+ per weekend. I normally hire 'compact' class ie Focus etc for £50 for 3 days:rotfl:
