View Full Version : Boots Advantage Card freebies
Boots advantage card holders should get down to their local advantage card point and print out a voucher for a free travel/mini size of either toni & guy or trevor sorbie haircare. The T&G range is more styling orientated but in the Trevor Sorbie range I got a very handy everyday shampoo. If not for yourself, well christmas is coming and stockings like to be filled... :D
Official note:
Put your Boots Advantage Card in the special machines in stores and you're given vouchers for extra points or discounts in Boots. Every now and then these vouchers include ones for free products.
Whether or not you get one often depends on your spending patterns and on the location of the machine but it's worth a try - you've nothing to lose!

at the moment both advantage card machines are closed at my local store and have large blue plastic things stuck across them. I'm a bit cross as three times now I've been to check my points.

I wonder if they are trying to phase out the advantage points. One store near me has had those blue plastic things stuck over the machines for ages. And two other stores no longer have machines (and one of the stores in quite big).

I meant phase out the advantage points machine, not the points system itself!

Mr Boots has been very harsh with Dave ever since I bought £70 worth of stuff in last year's infamous Fragrance Free/Cucumber skincare giveaway :D, but this week I tried the machine and it gave me a voucher for a free T & G miniature. (I "bought" a very nice everyday shampoo with it.)
Cheeky question - Does the machine ever make the same offer on a subsequent day? Or is this always just a one-off?
Dave
I've got 3 advantage cards.....don't quite know why they sent me 3 new ones but hey - I won't complain..... got 3 free packs of pantliners this weekend. :D

With the free Lotus tissue pods I got vouchers on 3 consecutive weeks so not just a one-off for that item.

I've never had a free item voucher so can't comment directly, but I find that I get the same set of offers for a while at a time. Last month I bought three of the No.7 lipglosses with 400 points because the offer was there (and I kept getting the £5 vouchers).
Odd Machine thing today - there was a screen amongst the adverts and details of shopping evenings - before sign in - which said something along the lines of 'Get 300 points today*' and the * was 'subject to minimum spend' and it said to print out terms and conditions. So I put my card in and went through all available offers (of which there were a lot - I've had a bit of a frenzied spending pattern lately and I think they want me to keep at it!) but there was nothing offering 300 points or seeming to fill that description. One of the staff even rang up the advantage points team to ask about it but still didn't get it explained (another staff member suggested that it must be the 350 points for £40 spend - but that one is almost always there and not a sudden promotional thing as this one seemed to be. Plus of course, different points amount.)
Just wondered if anyone else has seen this phantom offer?

Like PaleScene, I've never had anything free from my advantage card offers - I only ever get extra points, usually on a ridiculous spend, like £75. But I did have the No7 400 points - which, coupled with the £5 no7 voucher meant a free lipgloss.

Accordingly, yesterday in Boots in Manchester I had a 10 minute wait to use the one Advantage machine that was working in the store, but it now does look very suspicious!
I don't ever get any interesting offers, I look out on here for what folk are getting and the best I can hope for is entering competitions and a 25 points meal deal voucher, or stuff like nappies (not even got any children!!). Mind you I have got about £40 on my card and I won't redeem it - have been saving up all year as it comes in handy at Xmas time...tight swines probably have all this sussed, of course!

Could be that the power of this board has made the company pull the plug on the freebies

I've had two lots of Lotus tissues, and two lots of pantyliners so far - I'm happy to stash them on the top cupboard shelf until I need them! Although, the funny thing is, now I've been taking Mr Boots up on his kind offer, the Adv Point machine has stopped giving me any total spend vouchers :(

I tried today, but when I put my card in the Machine in Milton Keynes Boots, it ate my card and I had to get an assistant to get it out!
Not much luck for me! I daren't try it again.
Sarah
my OH finally had a free tony and guy/trevor sorbie mini today. i have never had one. however, i got a voucher for 250 free points with and trevor sorbie/tony and guy product [excl minis]. OH chose a detox shampoo mini, and i paid for all our stuff, and left my voucher for points in with the others i'd got, but forgot to get a product. the assistant said she would try it anyway, and it worked. :rotfl:
so he got a free shampoo worth 1.55, and i got 250 points.
I have 4 cards but our local Boots is very small and split over 2 stores so has two machines. last Saturday one of the cards produced a free pack of pantliners and the toothpaste points coupons.
Use the cards again in the big Boots in Chester, didnt try all of the machines because husbands patience was tried already LOL One card produced the free tissues.
All the cards had the evening primrose, alternative medicine and everyday indulgence points vouchers though.

i never get free products but today i got a few things for better than free using the advantage machine:
100 points for buying oil of evening primrose skincare - the skincare is generally more than £1.99 but you also get the points for the rest of the range. shower gel is 99p and you get 100 points for that. i've also got some talc for £1.29 and bubble bath for £1.49. not free, but cheap if you want to make up a collection for a present.
200 points for buying anything in the alternatives range - i bought decongestant oil for £1.99 so 1p profit on that too. there was also some vapour rub for babies at £1.49 so 51p profit on that, and indigestion tablets at £1.49 so 51p profit on those too. there are acne treatments at £1.99 each (spot gel and spot stick) and i also saw some slumber cones but i forget the price. they're plasters with a little pressure point, thought to help you sleep.
the best one is the first aid kit - voucher says 500 points when you buy the family first aid kit. the only family one i could see cost £19.99 but i thought i'd try it on cheaper kits. i picked up a travel kit for £3.89 and i was given 500 points on it!
i also got some sinus tablets, just paracetamol and decongestant, boots own brand reduced to 99p and there was a 50 point voucher for those.
it's triple points if you spend £15 at the moment. i don't know if you could buy more than one of each offer in the same transaction and get points for them all though, i was buying other stuff and i just added things from the above offers to each transaction. can't decinde if it's worth buying more than i actually need just to get the points or not.

I was lucky enough to get freebie-wise:
A voucher for a pack of pantyliners (hidden on the shelf so they were obviously hoping that no-one would find them)
A voucher for a free mini Trevor Sorbie or Toni & Guy haircare product (worth £1.59)... that was very useful stocking filler-wise ;)
I've never had anything offerered for free, but the last couple of days I have had the evening primrose offer. Bought the handwash, shower gel and talc in separate transactions, (with other stuff too) only cost 27p and still got triple points as well. The assistant said I couldn't get 100 points and triple points too, but I asked her to put the coupon through anyway, and it worked! :T

there was also some vapour rub for babies at £1.49
can't decide if it's worth buying more than i actually need just to get the points or not.
Thanks for the mention of the vapour rub jellyhead - I've not seen that and it might be useful for my niece.
My take on the buying for points is that I get lured into doing it on things I might not otherwise've bought, but that I don't tend to do it on things I really don't want even if the points make it free. It's just a personal choice - largely because I've made a lot of points on all the things I did want and will be sorted in Boots for a long time to come.
On a similar note I was trying to decide whether to go to WHSmith's bonus point day (spend £40, get £10 in points back) and caught myself thinking 'right that's £30'. But of course that's only one view - the other is 'Are there £50 of things I want in WHS...' (Answer was no, because I'm exceedingly parsimonious and won't pay extra to get a bonus - I want to pay best price and still get the bonus!)

i've still got some little me boxes from that promotion, and actually still have some natural collection things - will they have gone off by now? i haven't bought anything i won't use though, or give as a gift. i love the intuition razors but it would be a very expensive habit to develop! even those mediterranean gift bags will all get used eventually. i think i've got a years supply of evening primrose stuff for my gran lol! i don't tend to think of them as completely free unless i get back more points than i paid, because boots isn't the cheapest place to shop so when spending the points you don't always get a good deal unless you're buying 3 for 2 on nappies etc.
the day out first aid kit is a good offer, i'll get another one next week if the offer's still on. it contains 6 washproof plasters, 4 antiseptic wipes, 2 blister plasters and 20ml phial of eye or wound wash. it's in a little plastic case. it's expensive for what it is, but with 111 points profit i reckon it's completely free.

That happened when i went into the one in Leamington today - 3 out of 4 marked Out of Order and the other ne only gave me a couple of free prize draws and the usual Travel Insurance one.
I always get loads of beauty offers!!
Maybe they're upgrading the offers over the weekend - I know OH has been called a couple of times this w/end. He works on the databases and is on call every other weekend for problems etc.

I was at the Kingston Boots for my freebies - not that I think the location matters - it's probably more to do with their tracking of your purchases.
Mind you, the Kingston (one!) addy card point does actually work! (which is more than Bletchley who don't actually have an advantage card point )

Can't see the screen of the machine so can't use it unless I am awaiting online points as that is the only way to get my hands on them - it's impossible to get a SA who can help me with it and I have emailed Boots TWICE about htis and apparently there's nothing Customer Services can do about it, so I jsut have to make do with missing out on anything that relies upon the machine. Not fair!!!
