Hope this is acceptable on here.

I'm due to have my bunion removed, 2nd toe has 'clawed' and whilst Docs straightening these out, he's removing a bunionette (by the little toe). Operation is in 2 weeks time.

Has anyone had this done? Is there anything I should do before the op? How long is recovery period. I've been told by a few people that it's anywhere between 3-8 weeks. How soon did you get back to work? I'm a secretary, so not on my feet all day, so it may be quicker for me.

Any info at all would be gratefully read.

Thanks

Your surgeon is the best person to answer such questions, and I'd recommend phoning the secretary tomorrow.

Had both feet done, both needed "screws" that had to be removed at a later date, off work for about 3 months overall, plaster on for about 2 months, i assuming your not having the "newer" type op, as different surgeons vary in procedure, etc. I was not in any hurry to get back to work, as i was on full pay, but you may be in a different position.
Didnt find it painful as some claim, but of course plaster is a "-pain"

I've just had my one foot done, recovery time really varies from person to person. The lady who had her operation on the same day as me took longer to recover due to complications.

The surgeon is the best one to advise, pretty much I was hobbling round with my cast within 3 days and while in the cast I went to Blackpool for the illuminations, went on the rides in the pleasure beach and walked the golden mile.

I never had to go back to have my screw out, I was advised by my surgeon it would only need to be taken out if it protruded or caused discomfort.

For the first few days I had to keep my foot as elevated as possible because of swelling and had to take a few painkillers but it wasn't all that bad.
