Hiya everyone,

I desperately need help to lose weight. I am only 5” but weigh around 13 Stones!!!!!!!!!!!!

I use to weight 9 stones last year but I had the contraceptive implant fitted and as a result I put on soooooooooo much weight, my GP made me remove it in the end! I am now pre-diabetic :(

Anyhows, I can’t do any exercise (nope, I am not lazy! lol) I have a fracture on my back hence I can’t do a lot of the exercises recommended to lose weight and I also have chronic Planter Fasciitis so walking is out of the question! I am having physio for both but I can only do a little exercise at a time because of the pain! I do however go swimming for my back :)

I tend to eat well, nothing fried as I have Gastro problems and I suffer from IBS.

I am looking for an “EASY” weight loss scheme. Has anyone tried those electrode things that you put on your tummy and it works the muscles? That’s one option.

Diet pills, any suggestions?

Has anyone tried Herbal Life? (My friend is a rep, she’s been trying to sell it to me:confused:)

Lipo Suction (anyone had it done? Can you get it on the NHS?) I have been seriously thinking about lipo suction but unfortunately every time I go into hospital for any kinda procedure it always goes wrong (I am jinxed) so my hubby is very hesitant about the idea! :(

Ladies, plz plz help……………………….

There is no easy quick fix, if there were then nobody would be overweight!

Eat less, move more is the only way to do it!

I go to Slimming World, and have attended Weight Watchers in the past. I lost my first 3 stone on WW. The next 2 stone is for Slimming world.

As many a group leader has said, it didn't go on overnight, you cannot expect it to come off overnight.

Like you, I also used to eat very well. I ate seasonally, much home grown, predominantly organic. All meals from scratch.

I still eat very well. All of the above still holds true. However, as I follow a diet plan, I am losing weight. This is NOT a quick fix - but I know that once the weight is lost, my own bad habits will have been altered such that it won't come back on again.

Unfortunately, even with a quick fix, you need your own habits to be changed or it will all pile on again. Choose whichever eating plan suits you - low carb (you would have to research if this is a good idea as you are pre diabetic) slimming world, weight watchers or many others, base it around real food and changing habits and next year you could be looking at a new you.

take care

First of all I'd give up on the electrodes. If they worked we'd all be using them :)

Secondly I think you have to view this weightloss as a long term goal, especially if most exercise is off the agenda for you. Although you will probably find as you lose weight different exercise might become possible. Have you considered aqua aerobics for example? I love them when I'm heavier because it takes all the stress off my joints. Might be worth asking your physio about this?

Thirdly for me weightloss is about identifying bad habits and snuffing them out, at least for the first while. I'm going to be a little bit harsh here (and believe me I am speaking from my own bitter experience) and say that if you are gaining weight, or not losing it after having the implant taken out, then you are eating too many calories in all likelihood. This is where keeping the food equivalent of a spending diary comes in. I used www.weightlossresources.co.uk (http://www.weightlossresources.co.uk) to spot my triggers and problem areas. As a result I have given up chocolate, cheese and wine since I can't have them in moderation and their health benefits are limited compared to the calories in them.

Finally for me the other issue is simply how much I eat. I'm trying to lose weight at the minute and I'm eating very very healthily but I've only lost a lb in the last fortnight and I know it's because my portion sizes and snacking are creeping up. It's all healthy but there's simply too much of it :o. WLR is really useful for this too.

Weight loss is easy if you can just put your mind to doing it and focus properly on it. And believe me I have been losing and gaining the same 2 stone for years so I know what I'm talking about :) But there are no short cuts and no quick fixes IMHO...
