Has anyone ever used this? It has been recommended to me as it is meant to be very effective, but I have read a few reviews about it causing uncomfortable rashes:eek: . Does anyone have any good/bad opinions of it?

no problems for me (but i don't have sensitive skin so i don't seem to have problems with anything much) and it really does work for 2 days

I use it and it's great, though the roll-on does take quite a long time to dry.
If you're going to buy it, get it from Boots and use the 50% off coupon at this link (http://www.natmagnewsletters.co.uk/mitchum/pdf/coupon.pdf) - it actually takes £1.50 off the price of a bottle, and as Boots currently have an offer on Mitchum anyway (I think it's £1.79 for the roll-on or £1.62 for the spray) you can get it for pennies. I am stocking up while I can!

Doesn't work for me and actually seems to make me smelly :( For myself couldn't recommend it at all although I know others swear by it. I used the 'stick' version by the way

I use the spray version unscented and I have very sensitive skin, it doesn't cause me any problems. I had ones prescribed from Dr but whilst effective I had to stop using them due to irratation.

I love the smell of the Powder fresh in the bottle...but....
I'm not a heavy perspirer but used Mithum since puberty because my sister and mother did. Recently howver I have found it becoming less effective. I really sweat very litle apart from the few days before my period, (most of the rest of the time I could probably even go without deoderant!) but I'm findig those three days I do need it to be effective it ust isn't being and is not smelling nice at all. I've had better resuts with a cheaper bog standard deoderant recently....I wish I could get another cheapy that smelt of baby powder :(

I am allergic to most antiperspirants - I can wear them for a couple of days, then I start itching and have to stop.
I tried Mitchum last month & it worked for 5 days before I started getting the itch, which is pretty good compared to most, and it was actually quite effective (although didn't really start working until the second day).
I'm going to take it with me when I go on my hols (together with some Piriton to stop the itch!) as I can't stand the thought of having wet patches on my clothes when I am on holiday.

I use this too and find it's the only thing that leaves me confident of no wet patches. Tend to use the stick as the roll-on does take a while to dry, but find it annoying that it quite often breaks/crumbles so I don't manage to use it all. Every now and then I buy an 'own-brand' to see how it is but haven't found one as reliable.

Have used this for years and it is fantastic!
I also use Perspi-Guard every now and then. That lasts for 5 days and is good if you are going to be wearing lots of skimpy tops or dresses and dont want to worry about waiting for deoderant to dry.

I have used this for years as well as found other antipersps didn't work at all.
I have sensitive skin and have never had a problem. I've used the roll on and spray but mostly use the stick so I don't have to wait for ages for it dry , as PP said it does crumble after a while, still think it's worth it though.

PS I tried to print that coupon but it comes out massive and I don't know how to shrink it . My printer just goes to massive even if I cange the size of the picture

I`ve used it for years as well, the best one for me.
Another one who is very happy with it! I wouldn't say I have particularly sensitive skin, but I have found that if I use it straight after shaving my skin can feel a little sore; if I shave in the evening, it's fine in the morning.

I have really sensitive skin and have used Mitchum for over 10 years now! I wouldn't waste money buying anything else as a bottle of the roll on lasts me ages as you only need to roll it over your armpits once! Hope this is helpful.

Well, I've been meaning to post for a while because recently I've had two Mitchum sticks just break off! I hadn't screwed them up too far either, just enough I could apply it without the plastic scratching my skin.
And they weren't that old either!
As a deodorant, I find it very good, but I'm not sure I'm going to buy it again because I'm so fed up of it breaking so I lose half of it!

Is this meant to be more effective than regular Sure. I have used this before and I find it useless. The best I have found so far is Sanex 48hr, but this struggles in summer.
Its not so much that I feel smelly, its the smell that gets into my t-shirts during summertime. No amount of washing seems to remove it.

spray under the arms (of the t shirt obviously :) )with a solution of white vinegar and water before washing and then wash (pref at 60 deg) with bicarb and value washing powder. Works for my gym stuff anyway. And the 60 deg wash only needs done eg every three weeks or so...in between you can just do regular washes till you notice it going again...

Another vote for Mitchum too!
I use the unscented roll on and there's no signs of smelliness at the end of the day.
The only thing I found was my underarms did get a bit sore on holiday when I was showering and deoderising twice a day.

Try a small one;)

My solution is about 50/50 but others can correct me if they do it differently - I have it in a spray bottle I keep in the laundry. I normally leave it on for a while if I can before washing. And about a tablespoon of bicarb to a tablespoon of cheap biological washing powder in the wash. Also some neat vinegar in the rinse as well...

I can't rave enough about this deodrant. I went to Borneo for hols in june 87% humidity most days, stayed dried every day. have been to rain forest to various areas before and dripped all through holiday. Buy it, or several you won't regret it. :j

Another Mitchum fan here! I've tried others over the years but always go back to this one, especially for doing sport. The roll-on lasts me absolutely ages, even with daily use. Definitely recommended.
I use Mitchum, I've used it for a couple of years now as no other antiperspirants work that well. I use the Smart Solid one - really good, don't have sticky roll on armpits or fits of coughs from a spray!!!!
Defo worth the extra pennies!

I think it's great, and as for rashes, well it's probably to do with skin allergy than anything else. I have sensitive skin, and come out in a rash from the strangest of things (most recently the aloe strips in the Old Spice battery razor, but also Veet products and some shower gels), it all depends on sensitivity to certain ingredients.

Yes, I've noticed that too. Thought it was just me. Been using the stick version for years without problems but in the last month or so its not been working so well.
And Savvy_Sue, I've found they break off too, and I have to keep picking them up off the floor and try and stick them back together. This time I keep putting the little clear plastic top thing back on (the one you have to take off the first time you use it.....not the lid :D ) to try and stop it drying out, to see if that solves the problem.

I used the solid stick for a week and it brought me out in a horrible rash on both armpits. It was itchy, sore and flaky like an exzema rash (never had it ) and disappeared within a week of throwing it out it. Won't ever touch it again, back to sure for me.

And STILL they break! And no, they don't stick back on. I've tried using the broken off bit stuck to the clear plastic bit, but it's not entirely satisfactory, a bit scratchy and it falls out. Loathe to just chuck it though! :rotfl:
I started using it years ago as it was perfect for all night clubbing sessions and I would never worry about getting a bit whiffy after being in a club and at parties all night. the 48 claim was perfect. I still use it but don't have a perspiration problem so can't really comment on that but it doesn't nip after shaving and I love the pink smell.

I use one which comes in a small roll on and you put it on at night. It is called Driclor I think.
It then works overnight and literally stops you sweating. You wash it off in the shower in the morning and use a normal deodorant (I just use sure). You then literally don't sweat after that. It takes about a week to get the full effect. My sister who wouldn't wear certain colours of tops as she sweated in to them so quick uses it and now doesn't have a drop of sweat from her armpits.
It is farily expensive about £7 but it lasts ages and is worth it, especially as it saves you having to do a hot wash, you can just do a quick one.

I always use the roll on, and it's pretty effective, but not as good as it used to be...
I liked the stick but recently they keep snapping off, one after one day and I didn't even have it unscrewed that much :(
Don't bother with the aerosol, I just tried it and it went "clumpy" and stuck to my clothes instead!

I used Mitchum for many years - finding the roll-on much more effective than the stick - but stopped using it after I got a painful rash under my arms whilst on holiday last year. I think the difference was that I was having two showers a day, so applying deodorant twice a day too... Mitchum overload! Interestingly, I noticed that someone else in this thread said much the same thing. It's strange, though, because I always have two showers whilst on holiday, yet hadn't had a problem before.
I believe Mitchum's effectiveness is due to the aluminium content which (like so many things) has been linked to an increased risk of breast cancer? Certainly it's strong stuff, so should be used with caution. I've now switched to a natural salt-based deodorant called Salt Of The Earth, but - unlike Mitchum - it's no good at controlling perspiration.
EDIT: For your info, here's (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-479559/Deodorant-linked-breast-cancer.html) a link to a news article about the deodorant/cancer link.

Found the Revlon site completely unhelpful, didn't seem to want to admit to producing deodorant at all ...

I have often wondered about how healthy it is to use an anti-perspirant. (Though it hasn't stopped me using it... ). The way I look at it is if our bodies want to sweat, then we should probably not stop that happening. It can't be good, can it? BUT I do have double standards as I am actually using Mitchum at the moment (:o ), because I do sweat a lot in my job, lugging a harp around everywhere and often wearing clothing that's not very breathable, and the folks on this thread were praising it so much!!
Anyhow, another product I have used in the past which I have found very effective is, believe it or not, is my hubbie's Old Spice High Endurance Gel Deodorant! Note, this is a deodorant, not an anti-perspirant, so it will not stop you sweating. There is no mention of aluminium in the ingredients. HOWEVER, despite it not being an anti-perspirant, I have found that at the end of the day when I've been sweating a lot, I don't smell whiffy at all! (At least I don't think so.) Despite it being a men's deodorant and not particularly feminine, I will probably go back to it for those days when I need something that's going to work- as I must admit I'm a bit worried about using a powerful anti-perspirant like Mitchum.

A mixture really. About 99% of what I do is play at weddings, so I tend to do what people would want to hear at such occasions- ie. light classical, easy listening, Celtic, pop, love songs, etc!

I've been using Mitchum for years with no problems, but my Sister, who also used to use it, developed some rashes.
Her GP recommended Mum (the Grey one) as it's appartently the only deo-anti-p on the market that doesn't have aluminium in it. At least I think it's the aluminium - sorry to be vague, I can't remember quite what the ingredient is.
Sis has since used only this with no probs. GP recommended it for anyone with underarm skin sensitivity.
May have been mentioned before - haven't read entire thread.

Yes, there's quite a few without aluminium in them I think (certainly the one I use is) but - given that aluminium is the stuff that seems to make Mitchum so effectively anti-perspirant - can anyone recommend some aluminium-free brands which are an effective deodorant AND anti-perspirant?

As far as I know. She suffers from "flushes" associated with not being able to control internal body temp with result in heavy perspiration (why we both used Mitchum).
As it's something she was very conscious of, I doubt she would have continued using it unless she found it effective for both. I will double-check next time I speak to her and let you know. She has mentioned she has trouble finding the grey Mum in the shops sometimes so stocks up when she sees it.
I've stuck with Mitchum as I haven't had any probs with skin reactions and am a bit too scared to change!

I came to the conclusion that if I kept a mitchum roll on too long it would sometimes give me a rash( I have sensative skin),but now there are 2 of us using it,it gets used up quicker and I haven't had this problem.
I use Mitchum and have very sensitive skin. No probs at all. I do find the roll-on needs washing from time to time, though, as the roll-on gets smelly. Or am I just really really wfiffy that it contaminates the ball??????????????
BIONSEN does not contain aluminium and is the only thing my hyper-sensitive OH can tolerate. He can't even use the 'natural' stuff.
