Hi
My son (11) was in a friends car, and upon opening the door bumped the wheel arch of the adjacent car (he wasn't used to the weight of the door). An unfortunate accident, for which he was very sorry and upset about.
My friend has said they will claim on their car insurance to fix the damage to the other vehicle and the minor chip on their door. I don't think they should claim on their insurance, they will loose their no claims and will have to cover the excess.
So my question is; is this something we could try and claim on our house insurance assuming the policy covers this (will need to look it up), but as both vehicles were off the road and it was my sons fault, is this a viable way to solve the situation? The damaged car will cost around £400 to repair (a tiny dink btw)!!
Any advice gratefully received.
Thank you
