Does anyone know of any companies that provide breakdown cover for a car that is classed as a commerical vehicle? It's basically an old car that is used to ferry staff around but we're using it to go away for a week and i'm a bit worried about having no cover. We have a policy with tesco but that's for our personal car which is broken at the moment and i thought we could probably just add this works one on but it states they only cover cars legally kept and owned by someone of the same address. RAC also state they don't cover commerical vehicles? We're heading off wednesday and will be doing around 3-400 miles over a couple of days....

People do have vans as private cars and I know my mate had RAC cover on his Tranny - well, they covered him but they did recover his Transit on more than one occassion
I think they're probably referring more to lorries.

Trouble is the car is legally owned by a business hence making it commercial. Effectively it's a company car.

my company has cover on our vans with the AA but last year we had it with RAC so they do cover commercials (vans anyway)
have a look here. http://www.breakdownrecovery.co.uk/vans.php

what vehicle is it for?
also remember when you get cover with the rac on thier basic package it covers you not the car so you will be covered in most vehicles.

It's only an old peugeot 205 car, literally used as a runaround for workers. It's owned and registered at the workplace. I thought RAC would be ok but looking on their T&Cs it seems confusing as it does say it only covers you in cars owned and kept at your address?

Well that's a first because I've used mine with a car I didn't own or was even driving - I was a passenger. They've never asked me if it were my car, merely what make, model and reg it was.
Just get a normal policy that covers you in any vehicle, IF you breakdown they won't care who owns it
