Can anyone lend any advice on the best time and place to get a used car in the next few weeks?
I realise that the plates will changing shortly and so imagine that now woud be a reasonably good time to look for a used car, but is it best to wait until after they change or before?
I'm lookinf for something in around the £2000 mark, don't mind goin to auctions as have got good deals there before.
What do people advise?
Cheers

Once september has been and gone, there will be some part-ex xars that dealerships will be looking to offload as sales or to the auction sites, so either way there will be a glut of cars from the 1st.
Auctions are good but they do charge fees and there not always local, so could mean a few trips?

At your budget it probably will make no difference with the plate change. Just start searching now and buy the best price u can get when u need the car.

Unless you buy a cheap car with high CO2 emissions - everyone's offloading those. Save money on the car because demand and prices have dropped... Pay extra on road tax.... OK, maybe not that moneysaving in the long run.
