Car insurance from 21st aug, but cant get August tax?

I have car insurance that starts on 21st August but my local P.O says they cant issue an August tax disc unless the insurance commences 1st August "as they cant do part months" This cant possibly be correct can it?

It is correct but not for the reason stated. On the 21st August you can get a tax disc, and it will be dated 21st Aug, this will be the date the Tax disc comes into force.


I'm not sure if you can have it 5 days in advance or if you have to wait until the day itself, you will have to ask DVLA that. On any of these numbers.

They can't issue car tax unless you have valid insurance. Hence they can't issue you with tax today but should be able to on the 21st when you produce your valid insurance.
