What can I do?
I found cheap insurance through MSE which included (Free) RAC cover for the car. Great, I thought, Martin will be proud!
Last night, my girlfried had the car when it refused to start outside her place of work. I rang the RAC because the policy was in my name only to be told by the emergency hotline that I only had personal cover and that if I needed them to attend for her it would cost £87.50 by credit card. I duly coughed up, then checked with the insurance company who said that we were definitely BOTH covered for breakdown in that car. Callled RAC customer service, who also said we were both covered and that the emergency call had been mishandled? Today they confirmed a reimbursement by CHEQUE and also apologised for any inconvenience? I'm angry on 2 counts, the failure at the point of need and the slow route they chose to give me my money back.
Do I have cause to expect some form of compensation or should I just make life hell for the RAC sales rep in the local shopping mall?

should I just make life hell for the RAC sales rep in the local shopping mall?

What would 'making life hell' for someone who bears no responsibility for the problem acheive other than making you appear nasty and mean-spirited?

I'm sure the RAC will have a published complaints procedure. I suggest you use it.

the insurance company may have given the wrong details !

Yes it's annoying, but if you paid by credit card you could potentially still have the cheque banked before the bill is due. They made a mistake and they've corrected it, why do you feel you need compensation? Have you really suffered that much?
