Are products available which you put on your skin to help scarring reduce quicker?

Where can I get them cheaply?

And how well did they work for you?

Thanks

I haven't tried it but I've heard bio-oil is good. Available in chemists.

Dermatix is supposed to be really good. Not sure how expensive it is though. I think it's also available on prescription.

Anything silicone based will help.

Bio-oil is available in Poundland. Dunno how good it is, but we've had loads of people getting it.

palmers cocoa butter is supposed to be good. my father in law used the cream for several months after his heart bypass. and it is smooth and faded. not completely disappeared but significantly lighter.

just remembered. i noticed bio oil on reduction by couple of pounds at Boots, this morning.
is it-bio oil good for facial scars (acne) - palmers is too thick and though i love the smell too sickly to smell it all the time.
what does the bio oil contain (didn't pick it up to read it)

When I worked in plastic surgery (brief stint as a junior dr), the advice we gave was - rub lots of moisturiser on a regular basis (doesn't matter what type), always put high SPF cream onto the scar if it is sunny.

Tbh any oil rubbed into fresh scaring will make it look better faster - its the massage more then any special ingredient thats doing the trick.

I have used BioOil (COSTCO had it at a good price, although still expensive!!) loved the smell, but did not really help my scarring. Now use Vit E cream (ASDA), and am happy with it. I agree with MR_RUSH that using any moisturiser is good.

hi, bio oil is good as i've used it myself but it can be expensive. The other thing that was recommended to me when i feel and had a scare on my face was pure vitamin E. I bought the vitamin E capsules from a health shop and pieced them with a pin then put the oil directly onto the scar and it worked for me. Good luck

if you know anyone going to South Africa ask them to get Bio Oil - it was really cheap over there a couple of years ago - I bought gallons of the stuff !

I swear by Bio Oil for my skin and hear it's great for scars too
