I fancy getting one of those Touche Eclat highlighter pen things as I am looking really old and worn out and could do with a boost. Had a look on ebay and came across another product called Touch of Light, saying it is endorsed by the stars! saying it is just as good as the YSL one.

Has anyone tried it? I would rather buy the more expensive one if the cheaper one is rubbish, just thought I'd see if anyone could recommend it?

Cheers

Never heard of that particular one, but I have heard that The Body Shop's Touche Eclat style concealer is pretty good.

Is touch of light by Virgin by any chance? If so, it's not too good. Touche Eclat is your best bet.

I think it's by a company called Kent? I will probably bite the bullet and buy the dear one, I've never spent more than a couple of quid on any makeup before though *gulp*

Collection 2000 do one called Illuminating Touch which is sort of equivalent (probably not quite as good but certainly much cheaper).

Virgins one is called out of the shadows, retails at £12.50 and is very good.

The secret to using these products is to apply round the socket area, over the shadow and now right under the lower lashes. This is because it allows the light to hit the light reflecting particles which bounces back thus giving the illusion of no shadows. Don't use it tho if your having photos taken using a flash, the flash will bounce off and it will show as white lines in the photos. If you want to hide shadows for proffessional photos, then its really concealer you need to be using

Aldi had some today for £3.49 - 2 colours available, one for peach complexion and one for rose complexion. Consistency not as thick as Touche Eclat but does the same job for much less money.

There are lots of endorsements for this on the "Post your cheap but outstanding cosmetics here" thread, many saying it's actually better than Touche Eclat and doesn't go off as quickly. I started using it myself as a result of this thread (I think it's normally about a fiver but I bought it as part of a 3 items for £10 offer) and it's great - really brightens up my face, and makes me look awake (no mean feat :D). I can't tell you whether it is better than Touche Eclat as while I have a product as good as the C2000 one I'm not going to be paying four times the price just for the heck of it :D

I got the peach one, no idea if I have a peachy or rosey complexion, so I chose peach. Have slapped it on, took a while to get the stuff flowing through the pen, but it's great, thank you so much for this advice, I would never have thought of going there! :T

I got the yellowish looking one as well rather than the pinky one, as it seemed to go better with my skin tone- but I was in 2 minds, as I seem to remember Angel81UK (she's a make-up artist) on another thread saying you should use salmon pink to counteract dark circles.

Any thoughts, anyone, or Angel81UK if you're there?

I've heard that it goes off but mine never has and I've had it ages, I don't use it very often.

I bought it from here http://www.saveonmakeup.co.uk/ They don't seem to have any in stock at the moment although there are some other concealers.

I've ordered several times from them in the past and think the prices are very good.

I usually use touche eclat and buy it from the cheaper websites as i use the no.3 shade, however, boots have just had an advantage card deal thing where you buy 3 premium beauty and get 1000 points. As boots dont do my shade ive decided to give Dior Skinflash a go.

I was looking at the cheaper ones, Biotherm do one for about 13squid and clarins is a bit cheaper too, but then i relised you get less in them than the touch and skinflash and touche eclats do last me about 2-3months so i dont know wether id be saving???

as a fair red head, I found the YSL one didn't suit my colouring but love the dior one. I haven't tried any of the cheaper ones though.

Touche eclat is ok, I dont like the max factor or Avon versions though. Tbh though I prefer a Benefit concealer called Boing (http://www.benefitcosmetics.com/gp/product/B0015YGE3M/sr=1-3/qid=1216335662/ref=sr_1_3/102-1001495-4649720?ie=UTF8&n=164988011&bcBrand=core)

It's in store too, I bought some there a couple of weeks ago. Have used it for about 6-7 years now. I wouldn't leave the house without it on!
I once ran out and hadn't got another in the house, and went to work without any on. Everyone told me I looked poorly and that I should go home! I think it was just the lack of touche eclat as I was fine.

I think it's a brill product and well worth the money. The things I spend the most on are foundation and touche eclat, because I believe these are the things can make you look "cheap" if not done properly. I am not saying all cheap foundations are rubbish, you just must find one that is perfect for you and stick to it, even if it is expensive.

Touche Eclat is fab and well worth the extra money IMHO. It lasts forEVER and so I don't begrudge paying a lot for it.

I bought the avon one and found the consistency really thin. So have gone back to Touche eclat.

I bought the Body Shop one which was cheaper than Touche Eclat but only lasted me about 2 weeks. Ditto for the Bourgois version. T.E. lasts me months so I've gone back to it, but usually buy it online through Rpoints.

I adore touche eclat. I have very pale skin, and no problems with spots / marks etc, so I don't use foundation. But I do tend to have dark circles under my eyes.

It's expensive, for sure, but I use it a lot, and it's brilliant. And a tube lasts for absolutely ages.

I've had 2 or 3 Touche Eclats, and they do go off - they end up smelling awful!
I have tried the Boots No 7 and it is quite good but is a lot lighter and you seem to need a lot less - there are 3 shades to choose from.

I bought a loreal mascara one day and they were giving away a free product,Loreal Touche Magique.I always had used touche eclat before but have never bought it since since trying the Loreal version. It does the same job and I actually prefer it as it seems better for me personally.I think it's around £7 to buy.

Channel 4 did a test on some concealers:
http://www.channel4.com/life/microsites/H/htlgn/reviews/highlighters.html

Hope that helps!
Clique is my best bet in terms of a slighly cheaper alternative, its £15 which isnt cheap but slightly cheaper and works just as well.

I thought no.7 was too much like paint- no real natural give in it, and rubbed/flaked off during the day and the colour variations are seriously lacking

I didnt like Maybelline for the same reason

And Bonjours was too illuminating- my eyes looked very odd, and it also seemed to settle into skin creases and make me look like I had wrinkles, and I was 24 at the time!

Rimmels stick concealer isnt too bad but quite thick and can rub off, but for about 2 hours your fine

Bodyshop is ok

Touche Eclat is quite pink based and can look quite obvious. Give Barbara Daly (at Tescos, £3.50ish) a go or Revlon (£5ish). they are more beigy toned, creamy and blend well.

I think that may well depend on your skin tone - I have very pale skin, with pinkish hints, and the palest touche eclat is perfect for me. I tried the B Daly one, and it was too yellow-y and dark for me.

I agree, i love touche eclat can't fault it. i do use a cheaper foundation though only because the one I'm using just now is new and was on offer. It's the rimmel lasting finish foundation, claims to last 16 hrs and is transfer resistant it's really good, i was using clinique but found it didn't last and was expensive.

neverdespairgirl, the Collection 2000 version comes in three shades and the lightest is perfect for my skin, which sounds a very similar tone to yours. And it's a quarter of the price of Touche Eclat - try it! :)

On how to use it just depends on what kind you get, i use foundation to hid little imperfections and even out skintone. You must be blessed with lovely skin if you don't feel the need to wear any, don't start because you'll find it hard to stop, wish i hadn't started now. :D

Has anyone used the Maybelline version? I saw it yesterday and it was about 1/4 of the price of the YSL. It didn't look that light-reflecting (too creamy somehow) and the colours were a bit stronger, but maybe it looks ok on?

I have freckles, which never cover up well and look worse for the attempt, and otherwise I have even skin which tends to dryness, so I avoid putting much on it if I can.

The reason they smell awful is actually down to the brush. Have you ever used a facecloth and left it in a damp bathroom to dry? If you have you know the smell I mean, fusty! This happens to the brush if you don't wash it after every use. I use a little soap on the brush to remove all the concealer, then rub the brush on a towel and let naturally dry.

I can guarantee you will never have to throw away good touche eclat because it smells. ;)
