My GP is talking about putting me on Accomplia to help me lose weight. Has anyone got any experience of taking this drug; any side effects and probably most importantly - does it work for you?

Hi Pebbles88

Doc tells me that Accomplia is meant to act on the brain receptors and make you think that you're full when you're not.

I don't fancy Xenical and GP reckons that it's not the one for me, as my diet is generally good, it's just that I eat too much of it!

My DH is taking Accomplia and has been for the last 3 weeks, he said that it has made no difference at all to his appetite but it has made him crave cigarettes when he hasn't smoked for years  Good Luck!

That's curious. Acomplia is supposed to help reduce cravings for other things such as cigarettes and alcohol as well as food.

A friend of mine was on it and it made her almost suicidal. She was very poorly indeed and she didn't lose any weight either!! Sorry if that's not what you want to hear but if you do a search I'm sure you will find plenty about the side effects, a lot of which are not good.
