As we all know petrol prices are rising, but over the last year where i live i have noticed Tesco have the 5p of a litre of petrol, and a week later the price of their petrol is 4p more. Then low and behold every other petrol station matches Tescos`s. And when the 5p Tesco offer finishes the prices stay the same.

I`m just wondering if anyone else agrees with me that this is the main cause for the price increeses. I have thought this for along time, but I`m now not sure. Anyone elses opinions are very welcome.

Tesco do that quite often where i live. You usually have to spend over £50 in the store to get the 5p off a litre voucher.

Or online. We bought online on Monday, delivered Tuesday with a voucher attached to the receipt.

What I have noticed is that a local tescos to me, 2 minutes drive has Diesel at £130.9.Drive to another one 5 minutes drive which has it at £133.9 the second one has more reduced in price items.

By the way I have 7 tescos all within 15 minutes driving distance and all more expensive than my 1 asda at £129.9:D

then checking back through the emails I get from petrolprices.com I saw that the Tesco nearest to my work HAS indeed gone up by over 5p/L in the past couple of weeks - almost as if it is in anticipation of the 5p/L off for over £50 shopping.

How long are the coupons giving you to use them, I've had them from Sainsbury's this week but you only get 7 days before they expire.

Maybe I'm imagining things but I don't think Tesco's deisel lasts as long as some bought elsewhere. I mentioned it to a mechanic who was fixing my son's car and he said I wasn't the first to say that to him. Anyone else find the same thing?

I'll move this over to the Motoring Board

Also - Francophile - we've had several discussions on that subject which you may find interesting:

Diesel - supermarket or big name? (http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=424779)

Well at least heres one post to do with my original post. And let me guess, the other petrol stations are now putting up their prices to cost around the same as Tesco?
